"I just returned from 5 days in Las Vegas. I stayed at Paris the
first night and played $1 9/6 JoB for at least 2 hours. I lost, lost,
lost. I also tried $25 blackjack and quickly lost 14 out of 16 hands.
Ouch! Before checking out on Friday morning, I went to the players
club to have my play reviewed. The woman called a host on the phone
and told me they couldn't comp the room (I had reserved at the
regular internet rate.) I insisted on speaking to the host directly.
He punched my number into the computer and said, "Oh, no problem. She
must have given me the wrong number." Do you think he was just
jerking me around? In any case, I'm glad I pushed to get my free
room. I did not collect my $40 cashback."
Patty, I'm trying to understand the logic of not getting your cash
back on your trip. Especially on a losing trip. Letting it sit there
doesn't add to your rating in any way by letting it sit there. It
doesn't pay interest. Plus, if anything ever happens to you, or you
don't return, it's lost forever.
Casinos love people who don't take their cash back, because a certain
small percentage of unclaimed cash back will go back to the casino.
That's the reason casinos like tickets cashed out from the machines -
a certain percentage will be lost or expire.
You should especially take your cash back at new Harrahs properties
like Paris, which is in the conversion process. Cheryl, a host at
Caesars, told me to absolutely cash out every trip because the
conversion can have computer glitches and that cash can be deleted.
