I have played DW in Las Vegas for several years and done well. I live
in KC and the best play is All American. I have only played about
50000 to 60000 hands of AA. The expected return is about the same for
the two games, but I am down a few hundred dollars playing AA and
would be down more except I hit a royal recently. Since I haven't
played enough hands of AA to get into the long run, I would like to
hear from people who have played AA. The strategy for AA seems
harder, and maybe the small mistakes make a bigger difference than
what I think. I play AA pretty good on winpoker, altho not as good as
DW. Are there people out there who win consistantly on AA, and what
are your thoughts about AA?

I learned AA from vpwiz on this group when I visited Atlantic City, and
always end up with a good return. There are three basic rules which are
different in AA vs DW.
-1- Hold three to an inside straight flush. With 8c, 6c, 4c, toss the
face card(s) and go for a straight flush which pays 200:1.
-2- Hold a face card with two others of the same suit, rather than two
face cards. You want to go for the flush which pays 8:1. With Ac, Js, 8c,
6c, 5h, hold the Ace, 8 and 6 in the same suit. In JoB or other games you
would hold the face cards, but in AA you want three of the same suit to
catch the flush.
-3- Watch for four to an inside straight, since a straight pays 8:1. I
catch the insides on higher cards, but missed many with an A as a low card.
Since I started watching for A, 3, 4, 5, I've hit many straights.
AA is a challenging game, but those straight flushes pay nearly as much as
a royal, so watch for the inside SF's. the mermaid
Being from OKC I play AA on short trips to KC and DW when I fly to
Las Veqas. You can expect to loose more times than you win at both
games but both go about the same amount of positive in the long run.
I also make more mistakes at AA than DW. When playing winpoker the
fiqure you need to watch is error return % which needs to be above
99.4% to keep you positive. You need to also simulate casino
conditions when testing your play. Like having the same number of
drinks and play the same amount of time per session you would at a
casino after coming in tired from work. That will give you a true
indication if you are playing positive in the long run. The results
may scare you. Under these conditions if you can still keep your
error return % above 99.4% in AA you are doing better than I can at
AA. Under these conditions my error return % for DW is 99.8%.
