Deuces "Hit for the Cycle"

In baseball when a player has at least four hits in a single game
consisting of a single, a double, a triple and a home run he is said
to have "hit for the cycle." In LV last week I thought about this
somewhat rare baseball occurrence while having a somewhat rare
successful session of FPDW.

Early in my session I held three deuces and drew one to compete a set
of them (Single). Not long after I was dealt two deuces and drew the
other two for another set (Double). Later I hit a third set of deuces
by holding a single deuce and drawing three (Triple). Then I thought
gee, if I am dealt four deuces or draw four on a redeal I will have
hit for the cycle. I played another couple of hours but did not get
four deuces again, dealt or otherwise.

I have had three sets of deuces in a session several times previously
but don't recall hitting four and certainly not in a cycle of drawing
one, two and three cards in addition to four at once. I'm sure others
have had four or more in a session and wonder if anyone can lay claim
to "hitting deuces for the cycle".

Don, I have played over 2 million hands of FPDW and close to 400K of NSU and
have never accomplished this feat. I once hit 5 sets in 70 minutes a few
years back but not in your cycle format. I'm not quite sure if other
players consider this cycle analogous to the achievement in baseball. In
VP, my wife and I consider hitting for the cycle as making at least one of
every hand on the paytable, also not an easy task I did, however, manage to
polish this little gem off yesterday on the FPDW progressive at Fiasco
Rancho, a royal for $1,164, a duck set, and everything else on the table.
This will happen with the exact same frequency that I can hit a four iron
from the short rough a 180 yards and back spin it on the green to within
four feet of the pin. Don't hold your breath.

Don ....... Good question. My best is similar as yours - other than mine were three sets in 3 days, twice holding two and once holding one. Do you define a session as one day? Also, were your on single line machines? Curiously, most of my deuce sets have come after holding two, and I have never gotten 4 on the initial draw (about 4 years playing FPDW, Colorado deuces, and NSUD at the Majestic Star in Gary,IN). Would be interesting to see how many people respond saying they got 4 on the initial draw. I was beside someone at the Majestic in August who hit a set on the intial draw after playing no more than 20 hands. He left immediately.

I have never hit for the "cycle" butI have got the deuces every way
possible. I also have gotten royals every way possible. From the
initial deal to holding none, one, two, three, four, or five. Plus I
have gotten one sequential royal, although no bonus was available for
it. BTW, holding one was not on deuces.

I think of a session as time spent on one machine.

Yes, when I thought I might have a shot at "Deuces for the Cycle" I
was playing single line. When I play a multi-line machine I do not
have time for such trivial matters because I am too busy counting the
hundreds I keep shoving into the damn thing.

Thanks Nudge. Your vast experience points out that "Deuces Hit for the
Cycle" is indeed rare. I like your cycle of hitting everything on the
paytable as well. I have done that playing deuces I'm sure but probably
have not hit the entire cycle of any of the bonus poker varieties.

Something else I had not considered is the impact of multi-line play on
this achievement. The higher number of hands played in a multi-line
session would dilute the uniqueness of the cycle. Those players banging
away at two machines simultaneously on the NSUD triple play
progressives at Boulder and Fiesta H. have likely hit the cycle many
times over.

My last trip is MSS I hit 7 deuces in one day (about 12 hours of
play). I converted 1,2,3 and 4 on the deal. No deuces on the re-
deal though :frowning:

I've learned to live with the pain...

A couple of years ago I had 10 sets of ducks in a twelve hour session
at FH NSUD triple plays. Alas, I still didn't have "the cycle".
However, I do know one person who has hit all 5 variations in one
sitting at these machines.

I did hit a cycle of sorts recently playing OEJs. I managed a SF cycle
holding 0,1,2,3,4,5 cards during a single trip (two days, 15 hours of
play). This is particularly difficult because there are few times that
you hold a single wild card in this game.

A few weeks ago, I was at Sam's Town. Played the 10-coin nickel deuces for
a while, ran $500 or so through it and broke even.

Got up, walked over to the quarter machines, put in my ticket.

The first four cards on the very first deal were deuces. I had to stare at
it for a minute to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks.

I cashed out and went home.
