I have followed this thread for about a week now and it has certainly generated a lot of interest. That is good. However, I'm still not sure exactly what Denny is looking for. Denny, perhaps you can clarify and the bright, expereinced people on this group can help you.
1) Are you looking for the change in expected value caused by changing strategy in a given game? That's easy. Use Frugal Video Poker to move the hands around on the strategy table as you see fit. Put RF3 above Hi pair in JOB and see what the change is going to be. Then take it one step further and look at all payout possibilities for the given hand. For RF3, only 1 time out of 1081 will you hit the big hand. Take 10d Jd Qd Jc 3s as an example. Holding 10JQ suited, you will hit 1 RF, 1 SF, 43 Flush, 30 Straight , 7 trips, 21 two pair and 381 hi pair ( out of 1081 ) for an overall ev of 7.4422. 660 out of 1081 you will get nothing. Holding the high pair you will always at least get your money back. EV of that hold is 7.6827. $0.24 per hand at dollars, $6.00 on a $25 machine.
2) Are you looking for methods to make you a 'winner for the day' ? That is a different puzzle to solve.
3) Are you looking for which game to play so your short term session results look good? Again this is a slightly different puzzle.
