Demise of Free Play?

After the $30 drop I was wondering what the problem was, but then I got a $50 for 10th -11th. Just can't figure how it is working.

John,

An associate who knows more and plays more than I do has had similar experiences...

I think the primary deciding factor of mailer amounts may be each player's "theo"...so depending on what you play, how many coins in per session (day), the theoretical loss attributed to that game, etc... may be a bigger factor than being a wolf or sagamore...in receiving free play, comps, etc...

Secondly, my friend had a $75 food comp each Monday in July and August and used it every time, but didn't gamble each visit and lo and behold his September free play dropped from $75 to $30...my best guess is that since he collected comps without meeting expected or minimum "play" the casino reduces his comps...

Take my thoughts with a grain of salt as I am a newbie to VP and MS - the senior forum members have a better understanding of how the rating system works and may be able to shed more light on how MS figures how and who to award comps and free play to.

All the best,
Mike

MS is secretive when it comes to explaining how they work comps; hosts are prohibited from telling players much of anything UNLESS THE PLAYER ASKS DIRECTLY. My host, when I asked, said that average daily play is a crucial factor. He said that, for example, if you're only playing for an hour or so on a getaway day, you're much better off playing on another card (in my example, my wife's) and not playing at all on mine. I don't think they ding you if you just use points to check-out, for example (though I don't know that for a fact) but I believe if you play at all or use your food comp it is factored in.
I've also heard that the quality of your tickets to entertainment events is also geared to your average play.

Jean Scott had an interesting article in her blog today on the subject of the "Daily Average Trap", which she refers to as "quicksand territory". She lists multiple ways you can trigger a "trip" or a "day" in the article.
