Definition of "Full-Pay" Poll

I would vote to discard the term, but for one exception. "Full Pay Deuces
Wild" (FPDW) has been the accepted way to describe that game for a long time.
If we discard the "Full Pay" part, what do we call that game? 25/15/9/5
Deuces? 100.76% Deuces? Deuces Formerly Known As Full Pay?

In the case of most other games, we can define them by listing the payouts
on hands that are changed to alter the EV. Like 15/8 LDW, 7/5 BP, 9/6/90 JOB,
9/6/4 DB, 20/7/5/940 KBJW, etc. No real problems there. I guess when in
doubt, we can list the entire paytable! Awkward, but effective.

So I guess I'll vote to discard "Full Pay," with the understanding that I'm
still allowed to mention FPDW without being flogged! Assuming this is cool
with our hardworking, undercompensated Administrator.

Full-Pay Poll

The vpFREE FAQ uses the traditional definition of "full-pay"
machines which is: "A machine that has the best pay schedule for
a particular VP game, that can be found in any quantity in
casinos. Often it is a judgmental decision as to which pay
schedule should get the full-pay designation."

Do you believe that the term "full-pay" should be (1) re-defined,
(2) discarded or (3) continued as is?

1. I believe that it should be re-defined.

2. I believe that the term should be discarded and removed from
the video poker vocabulary altogether.

3. I believe that we should continue using the traditional
definition as is.

4. No opinion.

Most pros call them "the Deuces". Anything less has a moniker (15-11,
NSU, Triple Deuces, etc.). Such as SAB is known as "the Aces".

As usual, Brian is right-on with his excellent suggestion. This is
apparent to me because I always in agreement with his intelligent
and informed posts. ({O:

I would only add some possible amendments to the name FPDW, to be
used in the appropriate circumstances.

For example:

DGFPDW = Damn Good Full Play Deuces (When 5OAK, WRF and 4 Ducks are
appearing often).

BAFPDW = Burn-out Artist Full Pay Deuces Wild (When you can't get on
a machine because the Burn-outs have hogged two apiece.

OVFPDW = Oy Vay Full Pay Deuces Wild (When you keep drawing to 3
deuces and never connect with the 4th. This is a non-sectarian term
which can be applied by all creeds.)

FUFPDW = Come on....you know. (When you are losing your bankroll,
while playing perfect stategy, on this most profitable of all DW
game.)

Brian, this may be before your VP time, but there was a period in Vegas when all the deuces were FP Deuces, and everybody just called them 'Deuces'. Things got better before they got worse, with places like the El Cortez offering nothing but Deuces/4700 as a one-upmanship. Great deuce variants were introduced like 17/15 loose deuce, with even better EV than FP Deuces.
I'm not sure when, or why they changed, but the big event happened both at the LV airport and at Foxwoods casino about the same time. It was the Ugly Ducks - which swept the gambling nations like locusts. Soon all sorts of short pay variants appeared, with greedy casino's hoping to dupe the public into thinking these new and improved ( like 50=SF, 20=4OAK) schedules were better than the original. Thus the term "full pay" came into vogue, as AP's would use this term , as a codeword meaning whether the joint in question was worthwhile going to or not. Good timing for us, that VP analysis programs were made readily available that could see through the casino ruse ( they knew exactly what they were doing ). Back in those days, you did not need to be a comp Wizard. Heck, I spent 4 hours a day at Harrahs playing nothing but full pay $ kings joker/ 4700 and $ Deuces, and besides winning a ton of cash, Harrahs gave me full RFB! These machines had ( yuk yuk ) a sign overhead that said 97.9% payout.
