deadwood south dakota

I was planning a trip to deadwood south dakota in a couple of weeks and
have not been able to locate any info on their video poker. Anyone
know a web site or have any experience there. Curious how good (or
bad) VP is there. I usually prefer Deuces wild or jacks or better.
thanks

I would suggest that you access the Internet, and request
"Casino Gambling in Deadwood, SD." That will surely give you
current information, rates, availability of comps etc. Though it
may not mention VP inventory or pay tables, you can probably get
some details by calling the Slot Departments of the various casinos.

I have heard, from an acquaintance who visited Deadwod last year,
that "Tin Lizzie's Casino" was the one most like the big gambling
venues. I don't know whether this was or is still true.

I haven't been to Deadwood since the first year they offered
legalized gambling. We did, however, have a very interesting and
unusual experience the one time that we did visit Deadwood.

We had been wanting to visit the Black Hills to see Mt. Rushmore and
the Crazy Horse memorial (a VERY worthwhile excursion) so we booked
airfare to Rapid City, where we picked up a car.

On winding mountain drive to Deadwood, in a swirling snowstorm,
(though it was still October!) we were nonplussed to see the many
roadside "shrines" dedicated to various poor souls who had driven
off a sharp curve in the road. With each marker that we passed, EH
slowed down just a bit more.

After finally, safely arriving in Deadwood, we parked in front of
the very first casino we saw. I don't remember the name of the
casino, or even know if it's still in Deadwood.

The casino consisted of a long old fashioned bar, replete with many
afternoon drinkers, two blackjack tables and a few slots. I
looked at the 2 VP machines and they were both 6/5JOB. I decided to
play BJ with EH.

We were the only patrons at the the table;perhaps the only players
in the entire casino. There was a young dealer at one table. The
other table was shut done. At that time, $5.00 was the maximum
allowable table game bet in Deadwood. We each decided to play 2
spots. By the 2nd hand, we realized that the dealer was flashing his
hole card. We assumed that this was due to his inexperience. Of
course we were both winning and tipping liberally. About 15 minutes
into our session, the dealer apparently realized that we had missed
seeing the hole card, when EH signaled for a hit on a 16 against the
dealer 9. The dealer literally ignored the signal and hit his own
hand with a 6 and then a bust card!

We played for another 15 minutes or so, winning over $100 each. I
suddenly got a creepy and very uncomfortable feeling that someone
was watching our table and that it was time to quit. I whispered to
EH that I wanted to cash out and leave, and he immediately acquiesed
to my request.

We tried every casino in Deadwood on that trip. There were actually
less than 10 at the time, if I remember correctly. Those that had
VP, had only poor pay table JOB. No other casino had a
similsir "friendly" dealer.

On the drive back to Rapid City, we speculated about whether there
would soon be a new "shrine" on the moutain road, commemerating our
first BJ dealer, who somehow, mysteriously, had hurtled off the road
into the very deep gorge below!

I do think that you will enjoy visiting that magnificent part of our
country, even if the VP is still lousy.

Best regards,
-Babe-

I stopped in Deadwood last September. I will usually try playing the
best machine available in any casino. I could find nothing in any
casino that I would play. As I recall, no matter JOB, DB or DDB they
were all 6/5.
