You did not read my original response correctly. I agree with what you are indicating however I did give a slightly incomplete answer. Some single line DDB is played with multi-meter progressives. This can make holding the kicker with AAA + low right. Not always an easy analyses since these type of games often have progressives for AAAA + low but also AAAA + no low.

Not correct. In DDB, you never hold the kicker. In TDB, you always hold the
kicker, both for trip aces and trip 2s3s4s. Penalty cards do not ever change
this.
