ddb question for the group!

Not correct. In DDB, you never hold the kicker. In TDB, you always hold the
kicker, both for trip aces and trip 2s3s4s. Penalty cards do not ever change
this.

I assume you mean TDB not DDB. You always keep the kicker in the former but
never keep it the latter.

When dealt aaa2 or 4442 for example, do you always keep the kicker even
on multiplay?

Thanks all!!

You can look at it from an intuitive standpoint without doing any
math.

Kickers in either game are about 1/4 of the deck (3 suits out of the
remaining 12).

Would you take double (if 4 2,s 3's or 4's) or 2 1/2 times the money
(if 4 aces) for a one in four chance? That's DDB. Don't hold the
kicker.

Would you take five times the money for the same one in four chance?
Sure, and that's TDB. But be prepared for those many times holding
the kicker when you won't get the big win. I don't play this game
much anymore and always hated having to make that particular play.
You cut your chances of the four-of-a-kind in half by having one less
card to draw. That, and the payoff of 2 for the three-of-a-kind, made
it too deadly for me.
