Just speculating since the only market I know is NV. With the consolidation
that's already taken place in LV, all the larger casinos are now part of a
corporate family.
From time to time, with upper-level mgmt changes, worsening economic
conditions, or drastic market changes, the large companies use these events
to dump all the bad news in one quarter or one time period as the blame can
be tied to those events or past mgmt.
One scenario might be to tighten up VP for a while, break the bankrolls of
advantage players, suffer lower traffic for a while, then come back later on &
cherry pick those players that have soldiered on in spite of all the
changes.
Like I said, just speculating. But I've been wondering why there has been
little response on the Nevada side to the growing threat of indian gaming on
the California side.
