Normally, I don't come to Dancer's defense because I don't agree with his
methods. But to avoid a long thread about what is ethical & what is not, I'd
like to just make a basic comment about his book, "Million Dollar Video
Poker":
It is worth reading. The impression that you get is that he applies an
extreme amount of discipline to whatever play he chases. Bob Dancer is one of
those people who is "lucky" because he came prepared for it.
You can draw a bell curve representing pros & their lifetime success & BD
would be near the extreme end of good fortune. Yes his $400,000 RF potshot at
MGM so shortly after hitting a $100,000 RF was lucky.
In any case, I treated the book like a textbook & took notes. It was a lot of
fun to guess the people, places & circumstances which he didn't describe
outright. You can learn a lot from the book, I do not say that you will agree
with his methods, but I will reiterate that you can learn a lot from the
book.
