Dancer's claim

Yesterday, I wrote:

I'm
sending him [Dancer] all 18 issues that he requested. I suppose when he can't
find the article he "remembers" he'll want more issues.

As I predicted, he has reneged on his promise to apologize if I sent him all issues from 1994 through 1996 and demanded three more issues covering the last half of 1993. Just to cover all bases, I have sent him all six 1993 issues. How much more dancing can he do?

From: Dan Paymar <Dan@OptimumPlay.com>

Dan continues to make a big deal about this. He believes I slandered
him. I believe that I was explaining how video poker knowledge is a lot
better today than it was ten years ago. I used two examples of his
writings, including "Same Rank Anomaly" and a comment about going down
to one coin when things are going badly, that are not taken seriously by
knowledgeable players today. There were numerous other Paymar statements
I could have selected. Those were two that came to mind at the time.

I asked him to send me the issues about when I was Associate Editor, and
told him that if I couldn't find the offending reference, I would
apologize. I said it privately to him and publicly on this forum. He
sent me a large number where the earliest one announced that I was no
longer Associate Editor. He acts as though I am making an additional
request and skirting around the issue. He uses very strong negative
words on this. Inappropriately strong, in my opinion.

(He has also requested that I apologize in my
<http://www.casinogaming.com/> casinogaming.com column, if warranted. I
can do that, and easily substitute other Paymar statements as good
examples of how things written about video poker ten years ago aren't
nearly as accurate as those written today. It's hard to see how this
gains him anything. Are you sure, Dan, you want me quoting you from
1994? After sending me much of what you wrote from that era? We have all
gained a lot in knowedge since then --- Dan and me included. And that
was the entire point of the original article. It wasn't personal ---
except now Dan chooses to make it so.)

My first request for issues were when I was unclear about when he and I
worked together. So I told him private from 1994-1996. Since I first
played video poker in 1994, it couldn't have been before that. I knew it
was early in my video poker career. In a post on vpFREE, I explained
that the comment he made was during the time I was Associate Editor ---
which turned out to be the last three issues of 1994. He sent me
1995-1997 and appears outraged that I'm not satisfied with the issues
that I didn't request. Issues I never read before, and am not
interesting in reading now.

He posts on vpFREE that he has sent three earlier issues --- which were
the ones I requested in the first place --- and implies that this is an
out-of-the-blue demand on my part and signifies "reneging." To date I
haven't received the last three issues of 1994. He did send me an email
saying he's attaching them, but nothing was attached. I accept this
might have been inadvertant, but the fact remains that I haven't
received them.

I have tried to communicate to Dan that there are no winners in a
pissing contest. Perhaps someone else can explain it to him better than
I.
