Dan claimed: That was followed by a complete index of the contents of
all VPT
issues.Agreed --- other than the word "complete". VPT has many short columns in
in that are not listed in the index --- and that's where I believe he
made his comment about not playing max coins on FPDW when quads are
running badly.I was actually "assistant editor" (or some similar title) of VPT during
the time period we're talking about. I know that when I saw the article
in draft form I raised a big stink and tried to get him not to run it(as
I did when he kept running his "Same Rank Anomaly" stuff. He usually
over-ruled my demands --- which is why we didn't work together very
long), but I'm not positive whether he did or did not overrule me this
particular time. But he did write it.
I over-ruled most of Dancer's demands for two reasons. He just made the first reason clear. He always DEMANDED rather than requesting or discussing anything. The second reason is that he wanted to be in total editorial control.
I never wrote any such thing as suggesting to play only one coin if quads aren't coming up as expected, either during the time that he was associated with VPT or before or after.
If Dan wants to send me the copies, either by email PDF (which is
essentially costless to him and not very difficult) or mail, I will find
the article I was referring to --- or I will apologize. Asking me to pay
for 10-year-old issues that I didn't think were worth much when they
were new isn't going to yield him any money.
In his last direct post to me, Dancer again demanded that I send hard copy. Now he is saying that pdf files are acceptable. It took a little work, since I had to open each of the issues he requested and save it in pdf format, but I have done that. The strange thing is that he wants all issues 1994 - 1996, but he worked with me on only three issues of VPT, issue 2.4 (July, 1994) through 2.6 (November, 1994). He quit after that issue, and Doug Reul was my associate editor beginning with the January, 1995 issue. In spite of that, I'm sending him all 18 issues that he requested. I suppose when he can't find the article he "remembers" he'll want more issues. Sorry, Bob, but this fulfills what you requested. Your correction and apology are long overdue.
Him demanding an apology short of me seeing the issues of VPT simply
won't happen. If he wants an apology, just send me the articles that he
told me he would. Once he does that, I will "put up or shut up. That is,
I will post the offending article or apologize. It is possible that he
yielded to my demands and pulled the article before it was published. In
that case, I will definitely apologize that I claim he published it
rather than just writing it.
This is typical Dancer's dancing. He demands that I prove that I never wrote what he claims. Of course it's impossible to prove a negative. As the one making the claim that I wrote something that he thinks is bad, the burden is on him to prove his case. I think he knows that the article he "remembers" never existed. Now that I've sent him the issues he requested, he can no longer make his claim.
OK, Bob, quit dancing. I've sent the issues you requested. Now put up -- a correction and apology, both here and in your column.
