Dancer's claim

Bob Dancer wrote:

The article you posted is not the article in question. However, if you
send me copies of VPT published in 1994-1996 (I don't remember exactly
when you wrote the article), I will either put up or shut up. If I
cannot find the article I was referring to, I will indeed apologize. If
I do find the article I was referring to, I will quote it exactly on
vpFREE.

The article I posted is the ONLY article I have ever written that
suggested one-coin play. What he is asking is for me to send hard
copy of 18 issues for free.

I responded privately:

You are welcome to come to my house and examine all of the issues.
You're asking for 18 issues. If you want me to send you hard copy,
it will cost you $4.00 per issue plus postage. That's a 50% discount
off the regular price.

Below is a complete index of all articles in Video Poker Times. If
you want one or two issues, I'll e-mail them in .pdf format.

Many articles about switching machines or playing one coin when a
machine is "cold" have appeared in many publications, but never one
written by me or that appeared in Video Poker Times. I guarantee
that no matter where you look, you will not find such an article
written by me.

The only article in VPT recommending one-coin play was one you wrote
on the 2nd Chance Progressive in issue 2.6.

That was followed by a complete index of the contents of all VPT
issues. In 16 years of writing about video poker, the only thing I
have ever said about "hot" or "cold" machines or any similar idea, is
to state categorically that they don't exist. One of the few things
that Bob and I agree on is that the probabilities never change.

Bob has made a false statement about me, he has no documentation
(because none exists), so he wants to put the burden of proof on me.
All he's doing is trying to weasel out of a correction.

Unlike the claims in this forum about things Bob might have said in a
class or seminar, for which there is no hard copy record, all of my
writings are still available in hard copy, and anyone is welcome to
examine them.

That apology and correction is overdue, Bob.

Dan claimed: That was followed by a complete index of the contents of
all VPT
issues.

Agreed --- other than the word "complete". VPT has many short columns in
in that are not listed in the index --- and that's where I believe he
made his comment about not playing max coins on FPDW when quads are
running badly.

I was actually "assistant editor" (or some similar title) of VPT during
the time period we're talking about. I know that when I saw the article
in draft form I raised a big stink and tried to get him not to run it(as
I did when he kept running his "Same Rank Anomaly" stuff. He usually
over-ruled my demands --- which is why we didn't work together very
long), but I'm not positive whether he did or did not overrule me this
particular time. But he did write it.

If Dan wants to send me the copies, either by email PDF (which is
essentially costless to him and not very difficult) or mail, I will find
the article I was referring to --- or I will apologize. Asking me to pay
for 10-year-old issues that I didn't think were worth much when they
were new isn't going to yield him any money.

Him demanding an apology short of me seeing the issues of VPT simply
won't happen. If he wants an apology, just send me the articles that he
told me he would. Once he does that, I will "put up or shut up. That is,
I will post the offending article or apologize. It is possible that he
yielded to my demands and pulled the article before it was published. In
that case, I will definitely apologize that I claim he published it
rather than just writing it.

Hey guys, this is supposed to be fun stuff. I am trying to learn to be a
better player for tomorrow. Why am I reading about what happened 10 years
ago?
