I forwarded the note below to Bob Dancer and asked if he'd care to comment.
Here is his reply:
On the Norwegian Dawn, the machines with 9/6 Jacks and NSU Deuces Wild are
less-than-two-years-old IGT Ticket In Ticket Out, and so they fall into the
range of "highly trustworthy". There are casino employees, so such a thing as
sticky buttons leading to cards unholding would be handled by them, exactly as
they would be in a regular casino. Finally, I will be there, and I have a major
voice with NCL. If you can convince me that the machine has cheated you in some
respect, I will take up your case.
On the other hand, in the 11 days I've been on this ship (one
full week cruise and a half-week "get to know the ship so I could recommend it to
others" cruise), there were NO complaints of this nature. These are new,
well-maintained IGT machines. You can trust them.

There is one notable exception to this: The VP Cruise organized by

this year) That cruise, on the Norwegian Dawn out of New York,
features 9/6 Jacks and NSUD at $1+ denoms.
It's occurred to me to wonder whether they leave these paytables
intact for other Dawn sailings or if they're reset.
