Cruise Givaway Offer

I just got a cruise giveaway offer from Total Rewards Harrah's. It if I book January 15-18th. I get a Cruise voucher good for a number of different cruises that aI book directly through NCL. It says it is good for up to 7 days. I see the Mexican Riviera that leaves out of Los Angeles. I have never gotten an offer like this before. Can someone tell me how this really works and what do you end out paying out of pocket? It say I am responsible for any port fees and taxes. But I do not know how much those ran can someone explain all? \

Thank you for your help.
Terri

Port fees & taxes vary by itinerary. I am booked on a March cruise out of NY to Florida & 2 stops in the Bahamas. Total charges were significantly less than the best discounted fare I've seen for one person for the same cruise. So as a rule of thumb, if that holds true on other cruises, you'll be paying, for 2 people, less than you would pay for one person. We enjoy cruising, so we thought it was definitely worth it at less than 1/2 a discounted price.

NCL should be able to let you know what those charges would be. I'm not sure if their website breaks down those fees - it might. Try booking a fake cruise & see if they're broken out; if not then contact the casino marketing area of NCL to try to get the figure.

I'm booked on an Alaska cruise. Taxes & port charges were $646. Alaska's taxes are very high. I also upgraded to a balcony for $800. So for $1446 I'm going to Alaska. If I booked it without the offer it would have been $3200.

REPLY: We used one of these certificates for a 7-day Mediterranean cruise this fall. I considered it a good deal. Not a SPECTACULAR deal, but well worth using if you're inclined to cruise anyway and can afford (pick whichever of these items apply to you and your chosen cruise)the airfare, shore hotel and meals, excursions, souvenirs, etc.

The NCL reps at the 800 number shown on the certificate had the most accurate info about the actual cost. I was surprised by a ~$250 "guest fee." However, even with that, my total out-of-pocket cost for just the base 7-day cruise was only about $500.
