"Crashed" casino machines, displays, kiosks, etc.

Being a former computer professional, I'm both intrigued and amused by encountering "crashed" casino machines, progressive displays, kiosks, etc. at various casinos.

On most occasions I've seen Windows dialogs on the screen. Sometimes it says the terminal is locked and can only be unlocked by an administrator. On one occassion I remember seeing a display, I think it was a slot machine or a big progressive display screen, and it had a Linux command-line terminal session on it.

The other day I was in the Palms trying to cash a ticket, and the kiosk showed a Windows dialog. It said that it could only be unlocked by "Fiesta\xxx". It seems the Maloofs ported their software from their old Fiesta empire without bothering to do any renames... Or does this mean the Fiesta machines say "Palms\xxx"...;} j/k

Sometimes a kiosk will show a Windows desktop. I can usually figure out what icon to double-tap to get the kiosk software back up and running. Free diagnostic services provided by customer, lol.

Palms is a DBA under the parent company name, which is Fiesta Palms, LLC. I discovered this
when I was 1099'd by them a few years back and couldn't figure out why the Fiesta was
sending me a 1099. Once I saw the address I realized that it was for winning a drawing at
the Palms in 2005.
