The partial point issue is addressed in the HET FAQs. But they never spill

Looks like they fiercely guard the formula!

The other day when I was playing on a machine for several hours, I
tried to gauge the Bonus point progress. The Base point accumulation is
always shown on the machine you are playing.

When I inserted another card of mine into an adjacent machine, it
showed only the point total, before I started playing on the current
machine.

There are many times you would like to switch to an adjacent machine
when it becomes free (same game, same denomination), and continue
playing. It would be nice to know (if that were so) that the Bonus
point accumulation would not be affected by such a move.
