Construction and VP Update/Laughlin/Riverside

Things look different at the Riverside, on April 1st "Casino West"
opened for business. This is the addition that was built on the
other side of Casino Drive. There is 10,000 sq ft of new casino
space on the ground floor and a soon to be completed Mexican
restaurant on the second floor.

The 500 space parking garage gives easy access to this addition. The
locals will flock to this place with quick in/out. Extra, not-in-the-
sun parking is welcomed by those will have experienced 200 yard
journeys in 120 degree heat.

In the old north section chain food outlets have sprung
up...Cinnabon, Pizza Hut, Dreyers, and Seattle Coffee. I guess this
is OK, Don Laughlin does not give out food comps anyway.

"Casino West" is completely TITO. There is a square VP bar
featured. What is unusual is the use of ceiling to floor glass on
the north and east sides. Hopefully the ventilation is better than
the low ceiling main casino.

I wish I could report some good news for VP fans. Half the bartops
are $1 JB 8/5/progressives the other half Game Kings (.25,.50,$1).
There are rows of Game Kings (.02,.05,.25 & .25,.50,$1) on the floor.

The only playable games are at the dollar level. It takes this
denomination to get NSUD (also BP 8/5). Illinois Deuces is found on
the lower denominations, as well as BP 7/5 and DB 9/6.

Current promotions:

Quad Kings pays double in Casino West in April.
Triple points are featured throughout the Riverside on Thursdays in
April.

Casino West had a nice opening promo, doubling the first 20 royals.
This ended on April 5th.

Now for the VP database:

The two sets of ten aqua Game Kings (uprights) have moved into Casino
West, by the bathrooms. So eliminate the "by registration" and "by
snack bar" Game Kings. The other ten (slant-tops) still remain by
the riverview bar. All these have $1 NSUD.

Do to construction in the old north section the four DDJ .25 9/6/5
games have a new location. Move them from "by the north windows"
to "south of the bar against the wall".

The bank of assorted full-pay .25 progressives, which included the
FPDW and 10/7 DB have disappeared from the floor. Construction is
still going on where they used to be, still have hope of their return.

In the comments: Check the daily featured promo (Card of the Day,
etc.) at the slot club booth to get a 6pm drawing ticket for $100.

I am not knowledgeable enough about the different games and their pay tables
to hunt for them ,but I can tell you that Riverside does give out food
comps. I was there earlier this month and got them and have gotten them
before. My son and I have both won the $100 drawing. We both won for getting
the king club flushes. There were hardly any in the drum the day he won. I
had four in and he had three. I doubt there were 20 in there.

I haven't been to the Riverside in 2+ years, but we're riding my bike up there for the River Run next weekend like we do most years. This time I received a message from reservations that said "Due to the potential for problems, we're telling all guests to be sure they have an ID on them at all times (who doesn't?) because numerous plain-clothes law officers will do random checks, those who overindulge in alcohol will be exited out of town, and women must not take their tops off in a public setting." Looks like we'll have to play video poker this year.....

Penny,

Technically it is true you can get a food comp slip from the slot
club. The trouble is the Riverside only has one account going for
you accruing at .2% of coin-in. So it is cashback or comps, not both
like several other casinos on the river. I think you can get a
slight discount, usually 1000 points equates to $10 cashback. I
think you can get a $10 comp slip for 900 points.

The daily promo is lightly played, which makes it worthwhile. The
Card of the Day used to be stronger when you got a like roll of coin
and did not have to collect after a drawing. The RP has alot
stronger 24/7 promo.
