Congratulations to vpFREE Laughlin

Congratulations to vpFREE Laughlin for being the first regional
group to have a Casino Monitor for every casino.

Here's the scorecard for all the regions.

9 out of 12 Canada
8 out of 21 Eastern USA
11 out of 11 Laughlin
38 out of 90 Las Vegas
4 out of 44 Mid South USA
25 out of 53 Mid West USA
5 out of 21 Nevada (Other)
17 out of 33 Reno - Tahoe
15 out of 53 Western USA

132 out of 338 Total

The response to the Casino Monitor program has been gratifying so
far, but it is surprising that some of the most popular casinos
don't yet have a monitor, such as Bellagio, Hard Rock LV,
MonteLago, The two Arizona Charlie's, NY-NY, Orleans,
Palace Station, Mirage, Plaza, Texas Station, Silverton,
Stratosphere, Caesars Atlantic City, Tropicana Atlantic City,
Showboat, all three Trump Atlantic City casinos, Circus-Circus
Reno, Carson Nugget, Club Cal-Neva, Eldorado Reno, JA Nugget in
Sparks and several Harrah's casinos.

Possibly this lack of volunteerism is due to misconceptions about
the casino monitor program. Here are some myths I've heard.

Myth: Casino monitors must make updates using HTML code.

Fact: If the recommended, free Nvu Editor is used, no knowledge
of HTML is needed.

Myth: The name and/or email address of the casino monitors will
be made public.

Fact: Casino monitors can remain completely anonymous. If
requested, "Anonymous Monitor" will be displayed on the casino
DataBase page along with the DataBase Coordinator's email
address.

Myth: Casino monitors must make frequent visits to their adopted
casinos.

Fact: Frequent visits aren't necessary. Most updates result from
reports that the monitor receives from vpFREE posts or private
reports from others.

Myth: Casino Monitors are required to take complete inventories
of their casinos.

Fact: A monitor only needs to keep track of their casinos'
best games, which are already in the DataBase - removing them if they
learn that they're MIA and adding new games that are reported to them.

Fact: If you value the vpFREE DataBase and aren't a monitor yet,
contact me privately to volunteer.

As one of the volunteer monitors, I want to point out how painless
this has been.

The process is simple...I go to the appropriate page, click
File
SaveAs

and save the old version to my computer. I edit it directly in Word.
I save it and send it in with a few comments to the uber-monitor if
there are significant changes. That's it.

Of course, I could probably do a better job if I visited every week
and knew more games than just JoB or NSUD. So my inventories may
leave a little to be desired. But at least it's better than no
updates at all. And if someone with more experience posts a change, I
can enter their data in the same way.

Simple, painless, and probably less than 5 minutes per month.

Some more active casinos may take more effort, but not much.

So join the few, the proud, the monitors.
