Confused by Boyd

I am totally confused by the new system… Now that we have cut way back on our playing due to years of losses (and not wanting to lose all my money…), hubby and I are lowly Sapphire. I was at GC today and got new card, still Sapphire. Did those of you who lost points also lose cash out $, or just “tier” points? I only had a few dollars of cash back so didn’t even bother looking. But I played about an hour on usual nickel Ultimate x 3 play (I used to play at $1 level…sad…but much safer…)…and I noticed no points accumulating on my or other people’s machines. I don’t know if this is the new system still not being up or what. Do the machines now show both accumulated tier and accumulated points? I think it is very confusing to have two different systems for people…though Caesars does so with Reward Credits and Tier points, and shows both on their machines as you play. And even more confusing if you have no idea of the amount of VP needed to get a tier point, it varies by game played, average bet, and length of play…???

Assuming you play slots where $5 in = 1 tier point, for a free buffet on Tues you need $100 play. But if you are Sapphire you get 2x tier points, apparently. Does that mean $50 play = a free buffet? Not too bad. But for VP it could be? anything???

Seems wacky to me, and so much easier if they just did what everyone else seems to have done, make VP tier points at $10 (double slot play).

Table games have the same unknown quality to tier points.

Seems like a lot of average joes who don’t really notice new rules and subtle differences will eventually notice a reduced amount of points and comps when playing VP (and tables?) and start asking questions and find their way to other properties in Vegas.

It isn’t as though Boyd has a monopoly here, plenty of other places to play.....

What’s that saying about showing displeasure with your feet....Boyd may have made a major boo boo with such a major change.

Sapphire is no longer 2x and emerald is no longer 3x

But when everyone starts at ruby you are 2x

Confused?

The Ruby 2X is a temporary promotion for tier credits only (up to 100 credits I believe).

There are no longer automatic multipliers based on player card level. These would be for cash back which Ruby don’t earn anyway.

What is also very annoying why did they do this in August ? rather than January 1st, and have the announcement now! They changed the rules in the middle of the game. Nobody appreciates that!!!

The 2x tier point multiplier is only for Ruby and only good for 100 points. It's basically worthless. Tier points have no cash value except for generating tier status. There are no longer any multipliers for tiers. IMHO tiers are worthless anyway once you reach Sapphire. Yes you get some annual gifts and trips but mail offers are all based on your ADT not your tier. My advice is if your close to Emerald at the end of the year go for it but otherwise there isn't much value anymore beyond Sapphire since everyone is earning points at the same rate. I wouldn't go near a Boyd property now unless it's an 11x multiplier day.

Sapphire does not get 2x points. There are no more automatic multipliers based on tier. Tier points are non cashable and are only valid for calculating tier levels. B-Connected points are what you can use for freeplay and comps and are $1 per point for slots and $2 per point for VP. Depending on the game, who you are, and whether you win or lose, these may also accrue additional bonus points at an undisclosed rate after the fact.

I hope everyone send an email to Boyd or talks to the hosts to let them know how you feel. It can be done constructively.

Harrah’s did this last year and did back track a little after the backlash. I just don’t understand how they can just make it all effective overnight. I am sure it all falls under the fine print.

I have to disagree with the email strategy. Just walk away! Sadly, Boyd is no longer Boyd.
