Jeffrey Compton of Compton Dancer Consulting, on behalf of Bob Dancer and
himself, sent the following response to allegations that recently appeared in
a message that was posted on vpFREE.

A member of the vpFREE board forwarded the following to Bob - out of a deep
concern that he was being libeled:
"The trouble I have with BD is that his dissemination of VP info to the
casinos providing was far from passive--he actually fingered dozens of
advantage players and helped the casinos identify and bar them. This goes FAR
beyond statistics about EV and the cost of promotions and such. If someone
had done this to HIM in his salad days he would have been furious, and I
doubt that he would have been forgiving to the "turncoat" even if given the
blithe explanation that said person was just trying to use his knowledge to
make a living."
Of course Bob has heard this before (just as frequently as we have heard that
Compton Dancer Consulting gives bad advice to casinos regarding what games to
carry and how to construct their club with the intention of sending in teams
to take advantage of the place). Whenever we do hear such rumors, we are of
course put into the impossible position of ignoring it ("must be true, they
did not respond") or stating our position ("me thinks they protest too
much"). However, given the great respect we have for your bbs and your
readers, I feel that the latter course is proper in this instance.
Neither Bob Dancer nor myself have ever "fingered" an advantage player to a
casino - either as a favor or as a paid assignment. Bob has been adamant
from day one that tossing professional players from a casino was a disastrous
course of action. And even if I wanted to, I could not point professional
players out - I simply do not know who they are. Yes, we do advise casino on
how to carry more competitive video poker, but in truth that is a small part
of our business. Bob's contribution is through his writing, products and
personal appearances - and the great majority of his income still comes from
his independent play (in other words, he is still walking the walk). Most of
Compton Dancer's revenue is from work we do with players club comparisons,
host management, floor design, systems analysis and a successful series of
Gaming E-reports that we transmit on a daily basis.
