I usually don't give many compliments to casinos, but I was impressed
by this incident. It happened at the Imperial Palace in Biloxi, MS.
I had my family with me on a recent trip to Biloxi, and we were going
to see a movie (Shrek 2 - very funny) at the theater in the IP. We
wanted to have dinner after the movie. I knew that I had a fair
amount of banked food comps built up over time at that casino, so I
stopped by the players club and asked them if they could tell me how
much food credit I had. They told me flat out that I had $XXX amount
of credit. I asked if I had to go through a host to get a dinner at
one of their nicer resturants. The booth lady said "No, just tell me
what time you want to eat. I'll call and make your reservation, and
you just give them your players card when you are finished eating.
As long as you keep the bill under $XXX, everything will be covered".
I thought "Wow - that was so easy. Why can't all the casinos operate
like this?"
Casino managers - Please read the above - this is an example of how
we would like to be treated. Listed below are two examples of how we
don't like to be treated.
We don't want to play 20 questions (How much food credit do I have?
Tell me what you want to eat. OK, can I get 4 buffets? Let me
check...no you don't have enough credit. Well, can I get 1 buffet?
Let me check...yes you can get 1 buffet. Well, can I then get two
buffets? Let me check, etc. etc.)
And we don't want to hear the line about not playing any today when
we have an established history of heavy play. (Can I get a dinner? I
don't see where you played any today. Yes, but I was in here
yesterday and ran 10 zillion dollars through the machines. Yes, I
see that, but we like to see some play on the day we issue a comp.
OK, but it's 6 PM and I just got here. I would like to eat now, and
then play some after. I don't want to be eating dinner at midnight
tonight. etc. etc.)
