Comps on losses

I read here http://vegasclick.com/gambling/comps.html that a big enough
loss an qualify you for a % cashback, not just on theoretical loss but
on actual loss. It specifically mentions the Hard Rock where aparently
a $4000 loss can earn you 10% cashback. Anyone know whether this is
true, and whether it applies at other casinos? Any experiences where it
is not a policy, but a chat with a pitboss after a big loss has been
successful in this regard are also welcome.

Thanks!

I looked at the website and it says:

"At the Hard Rock Casino, which is pretty small, a loss of more than $4000 can net you 10% of your loss in comps."

That is comps and not cashback.

It is normal for a casino to comp 10-15% of an actual loss.

I have heard of casinos giving loss rebates to some of their whales
for big losses, but these are for extreme losses of $100,000 or more,
not for $4000. Maybe I should start checking at the players club
after some of my bad days

While some are dumping on Harrah's...I dropped over $20K at the
Flamingo last April and got nothing...

Rather than ask for a loss rebate, unless there is a known program at that hotel, you might ask for a comp you might not normally request, mentioning to the host that you just lost your burro on the casinos super-triple-double-trouble-Ace of Stars or Better Progressive and need a good meal with wine to get your composure back. Asked in a nice way they might buy (the meal) this???
