comps at the Detroit casinos

I stopped by Motor City today to pick up some freeplay. I hadn't played there in about a year and maybe twice in the last 2 years. The offers was out of the blue. What was interesting is that I went to the booth and had $45 in comps. Hmmm, I guess they don't expire at Motor City.

My wife and I then went to MGM for 250 points from the calendar. My wife asked what she had in comps. The slot club lady asked where she wanted to eat and if she had played today. She said what you have currently will change based on what you play today. She also said your comps are based on your last trip. I don't think that is right but it is very interesting.

I know Steve monitors this board. If someone from Motor City and MGM monitor it as well, here is my summary of comps in Detroit.

Greektown -> Won't tell you the amount, they expire but you don't know the expiration date and regular play does NOT keep them from expiring. I have had one case where the unused portion was not credited back to my account, based on the information I had. In all the other tested cases, they did. I don't know if this is a change in policy or not.

MGM -> Won't tell you. Comps change based on the current days play , especially if you win. They seem to expire but you don't know when. Sometimes they flow like rain, sometimes it is like pulling teeth.

Motor City -> The booth will tell you exactly how much you have and they never seem to expire.

Based on this, guess whose comp policy I like the most.

Motor City, thank you for the most player friendly comp system.

Greektown, I wish you would be more upfront about how your system works, especially the expiration dates.

MGM, are you kidding me? Change the comp balance based the days play? Why don't you just have a big wheel to spin? That would simplify your program and be about as fair as your current system.?

Johnny Z,

My friend Larry, who plays a 98.9% DDBonus game most of the time at
MC and says he's ahead after five year's play, claims there is an
over 100% triple play vp game at Motor City. I'm very sceptical, but
will look for it when I get the chance.

MC was my main casino for several years until they started screwing
around with the vp pay scales and it turned me to Greektown. I've had
many a great meal at Iridescence (although pricey) and do miss it and
the people who worked there.

I'll have to check my MC comps and points sometime. I used to have a
bunch of both.
