<<Ms. Scott: I understand the point you are making. I have read both your books and learned quite a bit about sensible ideas when going to casinos. I've also read where another writer brings up the point, probably too much, that people who have made a name for themselves in video poker MUST tell everyone they win gambling, or else no one would buy any of their gaming products, go to their classes, purchase their services, or even listen to them. Although I'm just a reader and a player, and after understanding more about the CompDance consulting service, I have to admit that this also makes a lot of sense. >>
It is confusing, especially for the beginning or inexperienced gambler, to know what resources are trustworthy. There is a lot of bad advice out there. Since you say you have both my books, you might want to read again the section "Can a System Help Me Win?," beginning on page 34 in "More Frugal Gambling."
Here are some of the main points I cover in spotting a charlatan system:
1. It's easy
2. It's a secret
3. You win every time you play
4. It's a money-management system that promises you can beat a negative-expectation game
5. It's a progressive betting system based on raising your bets after a loss
6. It has quit-and-start-again requirements that ignore proven math theories about the long term
7. It advocates changing your machine or sizing or placing your bets only at specific times, ignoring math principles.
