Comin' Up Aces

Hi Gang:
After four or five harrowing trips in recent weeks aboard the $1 DDB
roller-coaster, the VP gods shone their benevolence upon Hedy and me this past
weekend at Harrah's AC as we experienced one of those trips to remember.
It began Friday when I was DEALT aces twice, once drawing a kicker for
$2,000 and the second time missing out but being very thankful for the $800
hit. Hedy kicked in with fours with a kicker for $800 and Day One of our trip
ended with us ahead several hundred dollars. A good start but we never
could have expected what happened Saturday.
We started out quietly after breakfast, hitting a $250 quad here and there
when suddenly I got quad treys three times in a row (for $400 each time)
in about an hour's span. Hedy, meanwhile, hit ducks with a kicker for $800
and we figured we were off to the races. Little did we know it was going to
the VP version of the Breeders' Cup!
We were playing along about two hours later when I heard a gasp coming
I looked over at her screen and there I saw four lovely aces and a trey
for another $2,000 handpay!
She had held two and drawn the other two and her kicker. Wowie! This was
getting king of exciting, I thought.
Then, no more than 10 minutes later, I heard Hedy exclaim, "Aces, again!"
This time she had held an ace-queen of hearts and got the other three aces
for $800 more.
"I've seen you get aces in three's," I said to her half-jokingly "so let's
see you do it again!"
I love a wife who listens to her husband.
Boom! A half hour later, she hit them again. But, guess what? She wasn't
done. After a quick meal in the Seven Stars Lounge she came back to the same
machine and nailed the aces (alas, without a kicker) twice more for a
total of five sets of aces on the same machine in a matter of four hours or so,
breaking her one-day record of four.
Meanwhile, I chipped in with my own set of aces for $800, deuces and a
kicker DEALT for $800 and a whole slew of quads, including two more dealt.
When the smoke had cleared, we had hit a combined total of 31 quads,
including six sets of aces, one with a kicker, and two other $800 hits on low
quads with kickers. We easily wiped out the losses we had suffered over the
last month or so and were happy that our final AC trip before our cruise this
coming week was a big win.
Oh, and by the way, just to prove that the old adage, "When you're hot,
you're hot," is absolutely true, Saturday night we went over to Showboat to
take part in a Seven Stars slot tournament and although Hedy's score was not
good enough to cash, she was chosen as one of five "random winners" and
received a $500 prize!
We leave on the Norwegian Jewel this Saturday out of New York on a
seven-day run to Florida and the Bahamas and are looking forward to a chance to
chill out and soak up some sun.
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy

from my left and I saw Hedy's arm go up in the air, always a good sign!

This was a fun story to read!!! How exciting! That is the fun of DDB, you are either a pauper or a prince. Isn't gambling fun when this happens? Glad to hear of your good fortune. enjoy the cruise...Annie
