Colorado Belle BJ $10k Tourney

One of the perks of putting through enough coin is to get invited to special events and tourneys. Hanstockman said he got a nice offer for this weekends $10k BJT. My Sept mailer mentions another one for mid-Sept. In message #3441, Dennis, a VP connoisseur, said he got a like offer way back then.

So anyone do one of these tourneys? My first question is if the tourney strictly an invite only or can an average Joe buy-in? What is the format?

I have done several BJTs at GN-L. Lately they are $50 buy-ins, but several players get comped into them. They have been a nice overlay situation, even for buy-in types. At most, they collect $12k and pay $20k. At 120 warm bodies they guarantee all the bucks.

So I am interested in the CB monthly.

PS, On our last trip we played at a VP tournament at RP (comped). Wife

CB slot tourneys- they want some bucks to enter even if they give you a room and some food?

That CB $1k slot tourney over the Labor Day weekend should be open to everyone. In the past the first daily entry is free and you could earn more chances earning points (maybe each $1k of coin-in). So if you are in town those four days stop by, it is painless and on-your-demand.

My CB mail got better for Sept/Oct- 2x3 nights comped each month, two night gap, Saturdays excluded. Fine print- need to book by 10/1. Sure beats the BOGOs.

According to The Entertainer they are doing another $20k VP tourney. It appears to be a good overlay deal, even for a $30 entry fee. So how long do you get to play? They state top 200 advance to Saturday. How many enter? Is it a on-your-demand session time? Do they add up the two day's scores? They say they will draw 17 names on Sunday at 1pm for losers.

Anything you can remember will help me make up my mind.

There were about 300 people entered. You play 2 X 10 minute rounds. I
think the game was Bonus Deluxe. Check the tourney machines on the
second floor. They add the scores together. Top 200 play the next
day. You can play any time during the event period and on any of the
machines. Most people switched machines.

Next day, Same thing, play 2 X 10 minute rounds. They add the scores
only for that day.

Same thing, top 100 play the third day (all 100 are guaranteed a money
prize of at least $50).

Losers get to placed a ticket in a drum for the "loser drawing" and must
be present to win (happens around 6pm). Loser prizes went from $1000 to
$50. I would guess that there were maybe 50 people present.

The overall winner got a dealt royal on the last hand of the first round
on the third day!

So basically you just need to qualify for the final day and hope for
luck...
My wife placed 9th on the second day and I was around 120 or so.

Since it was comped, we enjoyed it.

I forgot to add that we were already booked at EW on their comp offer.
RP let us participate in the vp tournament comped without using the room
offer.

Thanks for the feedback. I looks like a deal. The Entertainer, www.laughlinentertainer.com >tourneys seems to infer only two days of play with a 1pm Sunday drawing for losers. But at 300 warm bodies that means only at most $9k collected, with a $20k prize pool. I would imagine most players are comped or discounted.

This 1pm drawing time would be in conflict with the Final Table for the GN-L $20k BJ tourney. One Wildcard is drawn to take the sixth seat, so that has alot of value.

I remember doing a couple VP tourneys at RP maybe seven years ago. They used Bally Gamemakers in a tourney mode. The paytable was loaded favoring mid-paytable hands. I think it was about 130% return playing correctly.

I think I would try the RP tourney over the GN-L one going head-to-head. GN-L runs a fine tourney, with a nice overlay, but they can keep you busy and $50 entry ($50 rebuy) can put a dent in a low-rollers budget.
