A few weeks ago someone told me that there was a new law that prohibits the
in-room coffee makers for health reasons. Maybe someone in the group knows
the details.

We bought a nifty little Black and Decker "Brew & Go" coffee maker that
includes a thermal cup. Some of them also come with a bonus cup. We just
pack it into the suitcase and take it with us. Never really trusted those
in-room coffee makers anyway. You never know what someone has poured into
them. I'd suggest spending the $15 or so and getting one that you can be
sure of, instead of wondering where those cramps came from.

They dropped all the coffee makes at Primm. When I asked the casino host as to why, he said that the health department did a massive "sweep" of LV hotels and deemed it unhealthy under the current laws and standards.

They added that in order to keep coffee makers they would have to be sterilized daily and each pots wrapped to seal out germs. As well, that the interior mechanisms would have to undergo sterilization as well as being wrapped.

The end results were that I was informed to "show my room card at the bar..." and I could get free coffee any time I wanted. Not as convenient as having one in your room.

A good friend of mine gave me one of those coffee makers you speak of... they are great!
Oh, was that you? <G>

Coulda been! <g> We should also mention that there is no glass carafe in
the model I mentioned, it brews directly into the thermal cup, so there's no
danger of breakage in transit. So why don't you go ahead and mention that?

Sounds like a commercial!

The sweep must not have included Reno/Tahoe. Reno Hilton and Harrah's Tahoe
both still have coffee makers. After reading some of these posts though, I
don't think I'll use them anymore!

They have also been removed from all rooms at Boulder Station except
for rooms on the "Player" floors - 15 & 16.

Coffee makers removed from many places, but did you know that they actually
added coffee makers to the rooms at the Ho, and they are the wrapped and
sanitized ones, to boot? Hell must be freezing over..........The rooms have
been remodeled, security screens put on the windows (so you can open your
window now without the worry that someone would reach in and unlock your
door via that SECURE chain lock) and coffee makers WITH
coffee................
