It is hard for me to believe that the SunCoast was losing money on their
quarter deuces wild. It was earlier last year that they added the $2
full-pay double bonus, but during the extra points (2x or more) promotions
they found that expert players were grabbing the extra points. Duh? Isn't
that what extra point promotions are all about?
Sure, they cater to "locals". But they have also sent out offers to players
from out of town (like me) who frequent the joint. I have had the pleasure
of playing there from time to time. If I win a few bucks, I end up spending
it there for meals, movies, drinks at the bar (while not gambling), tipping
the people who work there, etc. In other words a few extra bucks I may win
(remember we're talking about quarter VP, I'm hardly gonna make my life's
fortune playing this game) I end up spreading around inside the joint before
I leave.
That's the pleasure of playing at a locals' casino with good games: you
visit, you play, you spend (if you win or not), and you go on to the next
destination.
At the Suncoast (and other Coast properties if they follow the same practice)
I won't be visiting (except to cash in the points that I already have), I
won't be playing their pathetic games, I won't begoing to the movies, I won't
be stopping for a drink or a meal at a restaurant, and I WON'T BE TIPPING THE
PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE.
If the other Coast properties follow the Suncoast's actions it will be a sad
state of affairs. These places have been my favorite places in Las Vegas to
play and spend money for many years.
But let me tell you, there are plenty other places to go and spend my money,
honey. And that is what I may end up doing.
