Close Encounters Of The Buffet Kind

Howdy

For the second time in recent memory I have been detained from my departure by the Borgata Buffet Food Police.

First they told me I could not leave the food area with pizza in hand because of "health reasons."

This latest episode I had finished finished my meal and I meandered over to the pizza to munch on?BEFORE I hit the exit. In less than?seconds I was approached by two ladies who were probably responsible for the smooth running of the floor. One was the lady who stopped me the first time.

I was told a couple people had noticed I had no plate and therefore I was a "person of interest."

The questioning seem accussatory to me. Did?I have a seat and how did I pay for the food.

I could not really believe a "couple" people had reported me because I was stopped in a matter of seconds.

I said to them.."What are you going to do, have me arrested?" I told them I have?come there?a lot and I was not there as a freeloader? After some more insulting questions, they let me go without an apology.

What could they have done to me anyhow?and did I not deserve an apology?

How would you have handled the matter?

You could have been strip-searched like grandma Estella Romanski was
for the high crime of picking a nickel off the floor. Unfortunately
casinos seem to think that "management reserves all rights'' also
extends to violation of civil rights. The only solution is to fight
back, in the courts. An American citizen has certain unalienable
rights which shall not be tread upon, ever.

I did fight the casinos once after being accused of striking a floor person. It cost me 2500 legal fees and I was banned for a year even though there was video proving I never touched him. So much for that.

Get a copy of Nersesian's "Beat the Players" and read it till you have
it memorized. He includes some guidelines: never agree to a refusal to
pay, never give your name/identity unless required by law (W2G, CTR,
etc.), never agree to go to a back office or security office, be
polite, call your lawyer asap, don't cheat, avoid photographs, don't
answer questions and never give up your chips.

Make the founding fathers proud and fight the power, even gamblers
have rights:

I'm not sure the founding fathers
were worried about your right to
walk out of a buffet carrying
food. Hopefully one can see how that
would look a little suspicious to
a buffet operator.

Ultimately no one was detained or
falsely imprisoned, just mildly insulted.

While there may be excesses elsewhere
let's not make every interaction a civil
rights matter.

I wonder if you would say that if it happened to you.?? Grumpy

Did you hear the one about tigers and stripes ...?

Yes but I am kind of naive like Snow White:) Treating people like I want to be treated gets me treated nicely as well:)
