Finally stayed overnight at Barona located in Lakeside of San Diego County.
I am happy to report the rooms were very nice although you have to walk a bit
to and from the hotel area to the casino. There is a workout room
(unsupervised) with various treadmills, bikes, weight apparati, etc.
No liquor is served there but there is no legal restriction againist having
liquor in your room. Threre is also a sitting parlour on the 2nd floor with
a fire place and various chairs where you could go and sip a few drinks that
you bring to the area.
I only ate at the buffet and the branding iron coffee shop. Both were a bit
above average and the steak house looked like you would want to have a
special meal there.
The weather today was such that golfers were out on the course at 8a.m. and
the scenery was very delightful.
I played triple play 9/6 JOB and broke even. I was on a comp from players
in the area that I know; however, I have no info as to what constitutes
sufficient play for the various rewards. Remember, this week is also a lull time
everywhere so players I consider so-so were getting one-day invites to stay
over.
They had some VIP Christmas party-show on the 22nd for their diamond-platinum
levels with Kenny Rogers as the guest star. It was a getaway I'd recommend.
