Hi all
Below is story of how it pays to take a few minutes to look around
for a better deal before you book.
I just went through process of booking air travel for Vegas. I travel
from Pgh and US Airways rules in Pgh. I just started looking for
fares for Oct of this year. Seems all US Air low price tickets are
gone for Oct. I was ready to book at $352 per person to get my
travel times locked up and not have to fly the dreaded redeye home.
Suddenly a popup ad came up for cheap tickets. I put my trip into the
search and came up with $209 tickets thru United. Curious. I went
over to United and popped my travel times into United system. The
rates for same flight were about $400 for exact same flight cheap
tickets was selling for $209. So, why wonder why? I booked for $209.
I got exactly what I wanted. Here's the icing on the cake. I booked
thru Cheap Tickets. I am taking a United flight. I get United miles.
But, I will check in to US Airways at airport and I will fly in US
Airways aircraft (operated by United). Now,about 2 weeks after I
booked, the times I want to fly are up to $450 per person and the
cheap guys are a few bucks more that airline. It seems I just booked
in time.
In other occasions, I have checked the net, but got better fares by
calling the airline direct. It's hard to keep ahead of them.
Now I need to book car rental. On Dollar last night intermediate
rental was more expensive that full size. Go figure.
Just thought I'd pass on these ideas most of us know. But it's good
to remind ourselves to shop to save. Hey, a few $$ saved may give us
that extra play that makes it to the Royal. It's like digging for
gold. One more shovel or one more play and we hit GOLD.
Cheers.....Whitejeeps
