Changing Machines

Hi group

I know this has been discussed before but I need some new insights or old experiences.
If a machine is not "hitting" do you change machines. Move to the one next to
it, over a row, etc.?
Do machines have cycles? Does the machine deal from a stack of cards or does each place (5) have a stack behind it?
If you make a mistake (say, miss a pair and pick a high card) does that mess up the following hands or is each hand completely independent of the next?

Assuming that you change to another VP machine with an identical pay
table, it makes no difference one way or another. It won't help you
to move, but it won't hurt you either. Then again, it may help if
you have become so frustrated with the first machine that you begin
to get aggravated and make mistakes.

The simple answer is no. All VP machines will have hot and cold
periods, but this is due to the streaky nature of video poker, and
not due to any special programming built into the machine. If you
were dealing the cards to yourself by hand, you would see the same
types of hot and cold streaks that you will get from a machine.

Based on what I have read, the original VP machines dealt a draw
card "behind" each of the original five cards. Most modern VP
machine select the draw cards from a separate "stack" of five cards
so that you will receive the same draw cards regardless of the
position of the discarded cards. Some newer machine may keep
shuffling the remainder of the deck until you hit the draw button, at
which time the machine randomly selects the card(s) needed to
complete the draw. But statistically, all of these methods will
provide the same long term results.

First step is measuring the size and intensity of the aura that the
offending non-hitting machine is emitting. One row over might not be far
enough away. I believe the military makes this device, or you may be able to
rent one at Taylor rental. Also, do an archive search on my WATC method of
play.

Yes. For changing the cycle, we have found that two or maybe three Midol
tablets inserted into the bill acceptor will do the trick.

No. There are no stacks, no cards, no little green men... OK, maybe a few
little green men are in there. In case this has never been mentioned to you,
it's a computer.

I believe this falls under the jurisdiction of the Greek Goddess Hecate,
controller of magic and the dark. The prayer you choose to make to her after
committing the offense is strictly up to you.

Yep. I used to move every time I lost 2 hands in a row. But it
seemed like I spent all day moving and never got any play in.
So, I decided to wait until I lost 3 hands in a row before moving.
That seemed to help a bit, but not much. I was still spending way
too much time moving. So, I tried waiting until I lost 4 hands
in a row. This helped a bit more. I continued exerimenting with
this method and finally discovered that the best method is to
play on a machine until you lose 21 hands in a row. If that happens,
I change machines. I use a different appendage to play each hand
that follows a losing hand. When I lose more than 10 hands in a
row, it seems there are not many people playing near me. My lucky
socks seem to work wonders. I wave them around my head and at the
machine. This ususally manages to produce a winning hand within
4 or 5 plays.

Only the female machines.

Most of the games deal seconds. Some of the newer games may
have switched to dealing from the bottom.

Actually, the opposite is true. If you make some playing
errors, the machine will compensate for this. I think
they do this to keep really bad players in action. In Double
Double Bonus, try holding an RF3 over a pair of Aces once in
awhile. You'd be amazed at the way this seems to generate some
extra winners over the following half dozen or so hands.

OK, D.M., do you consider someone who has been posting since 2002 a
newcomer? Someone who has acknowledged in one of those posts that he has
been a member of "the other group" for a couple of years is not a newcomer.

Recently on multi-Strike loc's and denoms, paytable ?'s, where you can find
a particular game, etc, etc.. However, when someone has already read all of
the innumerable war and peace versions of serious replies from
knowledgeable and expert people on this idiotic notion of changing machines
still wants to somehow add gremlins into the mix, I get incensed. After
reading totally accurate information, sometimes provided by renowned
authors, regarding variance, volatility, RNG'S, streaks, peaks and valleys,
expectations, and on and on, some people are still looking for that magic
screwdriver or wrench to get their mojo workin. Newcomer? No. However, the
VPFree rules prevent me from printing the noun that I would like to use.
