I was told that as of June 17 Harrahs/Rio slot club changes will go into
effect. Everyone everywhere will get banked comps which will remain in your
account for 6 months and continue as long as you play 1 point every 6 months. You
can also use them at any Harrahs property, even ones other than where you got
the points. This is a great change, and if you fill out a Harrahs survey or
talk to hosts, be sure to praise this change.
Also cashback will be increased slightly since it will now take fewer dollars
in to get a point. Yippie! Of course cashback still won't be all that
great, but reel players will have a big increase.

We were at the Rio today and again had their great Carnival buffet. They now
have some sort of crab legs hot, as well as a huge variety of excellent food.
For those who haven't been there, they have many food stations including both
a Japanese Teppan-yaki style cook table and a Chinese style Mongolian
barbeque. Also pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs, many fried foods including shrimp
and calamari, prime rib, ribs, chicken, Chinese and Mexican stations, American
station, good salad bar, great desserts, cold shrimp, and much more. Dinner
and weekend brunches are $17 and I think are a better deal than the more
expensive and highly touted "Seafood buffet" (where they no longer have lobster) or
even the better-known and expensive buffets such as Bellagio and Paris.

We saw the Bevertainers again. Some of the women wear skimpier outfits than
others and the men are fully clothed. We asked questions of several of the
entertainers and were told they perform about once an hour, but if they are busy
they perform less often, if they have less drinks to serve they perform more
frequently. When the women perform they are more likely to stop action then
the men. I noticed people stopping playing to stare, dealers watching
performers instead of their tables, and people stopping in the aisles to watch. I
still can't see how stopping people from gambling can increase the Rio's profits.
Also the entertainers only perform for about 1-3 minutes, so the
entertainment is
skimpier than the costumes. Some performers sing, some dance. All in all a
very meager reason to plan a special visit to the Rio. But I do recommend the
Carnival Buffet (a 2 for 1 coupon is in the Las Vegas Advisor Coupon
booklet).
Interestingly, I didn't see any advertisements for the Bevertainers in front
of the Rio or on the news or in papers.
Should the Rio like to hire me as a consultant on how to increase business, I
am available. I think the Bevertainers idea is silly and will cost them
money. I have a lot of better ideas, like a big sign outside offering 2x points
midweek as a starter.
