I'm surprised no one else found your experience interesting or informative, but I did both. First, I found it very informative that you're the only one I've seen come on here and say they've lost a sum like that in 2 days playing 25c FPDW only. I find it interesting that what is supposed to happen further out on the curve happened to you in the first quarter or so---and you seem to be saying that you're glad it's over...when you know it could happen any number of times again even in the next 50 trips. Let's hope it doesn't. Third, I don't consider a 2-day trip a 'losing streak'. Maybe a bad trip, but not a streak.

I just returned from two days in Vegas. The only game I played was FPDW. At the end of the trip I had lost $1360. Since I have had about 25 trips to Vegas to play VP, I guess my time for the losing streak came a little early. Strange things do happen in VP.

I hope someone else found my experience interesting and informative.

In his post "jhtks2002" talked about his losing streak occurring somewhere
within some kind of curve (earlier than he would have expected)...that he
would expect a losing streak to occur every X number of sessions but was
surprised it happened when it did. Is this the conventional wisdom? Based
on what I've read here over the past year, I don't think it is.

I agree with the above, although with the caveat that there can never be
expectations on any per session basis. But as for his comment that he
doesn't spend too much time at any given machine in NV on the off chance
that it's gaffed, maybe he'll explain further why that's even an issue,
unless I misunderstood.

I'll clarify--and maybe I should have before. I said it was 'one' of the reasons, but it's not the main reason. Who of us can do any more than 'trust' that the machines are not gaffed? Certainly, I wouldn't play at the limits I sometimes do if I didn't trust that Nv. machines are fair. But it's sure not something you or I know as an absolute for each machine we've ever played there. I've sat at machines I've felt just weren't right...just like all of us. But I choose to move, and part of that decision is based upon 'just in case'.

Why is it even an issue? Because my strategy requires being totally comfortable with my play at all times. If I'm not I move. Like those who only play positive EV machines, I also look for every opportunity to win in my own way. My feelings on the lousy pay tables and the questionable fairness of Indian casino VP are well known, yet out of the 75 or so times I've popped into Casino Arizona over here (the majority for an article I wrote) I've lost just twice. Remember, I'm not sitting anywhere for hours like traditional experts. But my serious play is only in Nv. because of the huge trust advantage I believe they have.

Don't you read Frugal Fridays? There is a link to it every week here on this website. Go back in the archives of Frugal Fridays at http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com and read the 3-column series I wrote about losing.

Some people I know criticize me, in print, when I talk about winning - but they criticize me just the same when I talk about losing. These people do not know what Brad and I have in our bank account and mutual funds - so how can they assume we are playing over our heads, particularly when I specifically mention that we never play over our bankroll. Of course, when these people read something I write that they don't like, they just say that I lie. I always think that when someone accuses someone of lying, it is because they themselves lie and therefore think everyone else does. Funny, Brad thinks I am naive - but I try to think good about everyone until I am overwhelmed with a preponderous amount of negative evidence.
