The new Century Casino in Central City has "soft opened". Their grand
opening celebration commences on July 21st. I was there on Saturday
July 15. There are large numbers of machines that have not been put
into service yet. In fact, I found only one bank of video poker
machines operational, a set of bartops. I only checked one machine,
and it was a $1 (only) machine with truly horrible payscales: 6/5 DDB,
Colorado Deuces. I think the "best" was probably 7/5 JoB. I was so
frightened by this that I didn't bother to check the other bartops.
Their downstairs area, which was completely nonoperational, looks to
have a fair number of video poker machines, but after seeing such
awful $1 payscales I am not too hopeful.
Their ads for the slot club indicate 1000 points for $5 cashback; $1 =
1 point for slots (.5%), and $2 = 1 point for video poker (.25%).
XVP: For fans of Three Card Poker, note that Century Casino uses Las
Vegas standard payscales for the Pair Plus bet (40-30-6-3-1, a house
edge of about 7.28% according to the Wizard of Odds). The Riviera and
Isle of Capri still offer the better paytable (40-30-6-4-1, 2.32%).
Ante Bonus at Century was standard 5-4-1.
