A key paragragh:

Howard Reinhardt, who will run the property in Laughlin, said it
intends to keep its employees but will trim expenses. He said the
property has been "giving away things" faster than it can earn money.
He said it will save on marketing and centralization of some of the
operations. He said he does not expect increased revenues at the
start.

"Giving away things"...that is true. Comped room offers for $500
coin-in/month, bouncebacks about 2%, food comps up the wazoo, COD,
multi-point coupons and daily drawings all added up to a low roller
heaven.

I am going to miss this place in its current form.

Blue,

Don't be so sure that these will be cut back significantly. I did some work for them on this topic and while I cannot give details (nor do I know what the new management has in mind) a very few promotions were generating huge losses for River Palms. Eliminating them may save the others. So wait and see what happens, if they are smart they will continue to make attractive offers to maintain foot traffic.

OBTW, we are talking about River Palms, for you non-converts to the
Laughlin mystique.

Bill,

I just remember the Gold River days, never played there.

River Palms in my opinion should keep up with the cheap room offers
to keep the place filled. Probably Winner's Wharf is going to need
some adjustment. They give away food way too easy, .2% rate plus the
Sunday, put $250 coin-in, get a $10 comp promo.

The quality of food has gone downhill because it is all given away.
I hope they leave the decent games on the floor and adjust the other
things.

The table games suck, about the worst on the river. They even added
the dreaded 6:5 BJ.

I hope these new folks don't get too confused with the Maxim-
Causarina project. A comfy bed is not the key in Laughlin.
