CB/EW stuff from my last trip

Elo Kiddies *,

Just a few notes from my last trip to Laughlin. The "Endless Summer" promo
drawing continues in both houses. It is "paper", not "electronic". The rules
were posted at the slot club (8 1/2x 11 inch) instead of the long standing
posterboards (2x3 feet) signs this time. Maybe they are embarrassed about this
one?

After reading the rules, I couldn't pull the trigger for this one. On
Tues/Saturdays each house was alternating drawing times starting at 10am. Six
drawings in each house, alternating between casinos for a "cooler of cash" is a bit
much. They want you to hang out over 11 hours! I know my drawing
limits...the 3,5,7pm ones at the Pioneer or the 6,8pm ones at GN-L are all I can cope
with in a day.

Drawing tickets were earned for 500 points (which is now $667 coin-in) for
VP. Playing BJ at $5 was alot better deal if you wanted into the drawings. A
BJ got you a ticket, suited two tickets.

There is alot of crappy 6/5 BJ, but the new side bet BJ games actually have
the best BJ rules. That new roulette style side bet game looked best.

But you really need to come back for the Sept 27th Big Bang Finale for any
value. They are going to dump all the tickets into a drum (going to be a big
one) for the chance at the Grand Prize. This will be a joint adventure on that
stage outside of the CB walkway on the way to EW.

Fifty contestants will be drawn. Each pick two envelopes out of a hundred.
Looks like $500 is the booby prize, still a fine prize. Each envelope will
have a card value. If you pull the Ace and Jack (?) of Spades (?) you win the
$250 Grand.

Lets see... 2/100x 1/99 is 2/9900 or every 4950 times they do this style
drawing they will give the big bucks away. Good Luck!

Boiler Room news- this is not good. They are outsourcing the room. The VP
is scheduled to be gone by the end of August. Marshall is supposed to be able
to make the beer for the new guys, but no VP means no comped pints. The
employees once again get screwed, Marnell-Sher does not want them. Bartenders
like Tomas with 18 years lose their senority.

So no more smoke-free VP with good music anymore in the Boiler Room.

Speaking of VP, the bartops indeed have been changed in both houses. The
quarter Bonus 8/5 has been taken off the progressive meters. All VP I checked is
counting down at $4/3 points, except the good games. Countdown is 30,000 on
these.

A whacked deal is for the downstairs sportsbar in EW. There were signs in EW
touting the joint. Come have a $2 drink which includes "Sierra Nevada Pale
Ale and Domestic Beer Pints".

I am not sure where they think Sierra Nevada is brewed? Last I looked it was
in Chico, CA . The kicker was there wasn't any Pale on tap, still waiting
for delivery. But they did have that imported Sam Adams Boston Lager, you know
from Boston.

Craps- I saw at CB $2 Craps with Strip odds (3X/4X/5X) being offered. Now
that is new.

I'm not sure what M-S. are up to either,
as i also heard that the quaint little deli/sports snackbar in EW will
be going away soon. PIZZA Hut was also covered up and blocked off
with temporarly crowd/police tape (Typical EW way of doing things).

That was this past weekend.

Drawings very hard to win (only 6 winners daily, and every 2 hours).
However, time went by fairly quickly in the EW poker room,
where I was most of the day Saturday.

If you were in the area around 1-2PM, and heard a slight shout,
that was just me - nailing a 5-high SF progressive during DBL-PAYOUTS!

My best 'career' poker win of $1400 (not bad for a limit structured
poker game, eh?). Sure made up for my lousy vp luck.

BTW - I have a minor correction:
It is $4/3 pts - and 500 pts for a dwg. tix = $667-$668 is correct.
The 100% games are 30000 countdown; But it's actually now $300/pt.
That's still utterly ridiculous! It would take $15K per dwg tix on
those babies!

That is not good news at all. The Boiler room was a favorite hang out
for me. I imagine the gallon count will go way down without bartops to
play. The rumor I heard was that Marnell-Sher is getting out of the
restaurant end of the business totally. They are going to outsource
everything eventually. The paddlewheel coffee shop is suppose to become
a Macarroni Grill.

There you go folks---- your Laughlin rumor for the day.
