I haven't kept up much on video poker lately but noticed there was a
promo at Castaways in Sept based on how many cards you held to hit a
royal. Bob Dancer wrote about it in his column:
http://www.casinogaming.com/columnists/dancer/082702.html
If you were dealt a royal you got a 500 coin bonus, if drawing 5 to a
royal and you made it, you also got 500 coins, 400 for holding 1 and
making it, 300 for holding 2 and making it, 200 for holding 3 and
making it, and 100 for holding 4 and making it.
To find the value of this bonus we need to know how many times you
hold 4 to a royal, 3 to a royal etc. I wrote my own software years
ago, and it includes this info. For example, there are 21,576 times
you hold 3 to a royal correctly in 10-7 DB. You can then compute the
EV of the bonus for this as 1/1081 * 200 * 21576. Doing this for all
combination, then dividing by the 54.01 total royals made brings the
average bonus to 207.77 coins, or about 0.086%. Good luck. TomSki
