Casinos' Slot Revenue

Just in case some folks missed this article which was in the
Connecticut Post today.

" Connecticut's two American Indian run casinos contributed more
than $33.4 million from December's slot machine winnings to the
state. Mohegan Sun gave $17.9 million on slot revenue of $71.9
million and Foxwoods paid $15.5 million of slot revenue on $62
million. Mohegan Sun had an average of 6,254 slot machines in
operation, while Foxwoods, had 7,451."

Anyone have an opinion on how Mohegan made $2.4 million more in
December on almost 1,200 fewer machines.

I don't track this stuff religiously but I read awhile ago that MS was close
to overtaking Foxwoods as the top dog in CT casinos. As far as I know this
may have happened months ago.

I'm not surprised. I live in CT and no one that I know goes to Foxwoods.
Obviously some do but MS appears to be the casino of choice for most locals.
Just last Sunday, Foxwoods had an insert in the Hartford Courant with
coupons for various stuff at the casino. I was shocked that they had to
offer 20% off stores and restaurants to get people to show up.

My guess is that MS has continued to capture a big piece of Foxwoods'
business. People coming from western and central MA and NY, especially NYC,
have no reason to travel the extra 15-20 minutes to go to Foxwoods. My guess
is that this crowd has a higher per cap wager.

Just my thoughts. Am interested in other opinions.

If everything was equal....
I come from upstate NY (120 mile drive) and MS being right off the
interstate is a little more convenient.

Self parking at MS is more convenient. I like the ambiance of the
Sky Casino more than anything at FW. Getting arounf FW is a real
hike, seems much more compact at MS.

I'm eligible for the highroller lounges at MS but not at FW cuz
of the VP play.

Maybe i'm just biased cuz of the VP.

I live in CT a one hour drive away from MS. I used to go to

Foxwoods before MS was built, then when MS came along I used to go to
each one. Because MS is a bit closer (as stated before why drive the
extra 15-20 minutes) I started frequenting MS more. I enjoy going to
MS, I think they are more player oriented than Foxwoods. I have not
been to Foxwoods in over a year, and at this time have no desire to
visit them. Since I mainly play 1$ Pick 'Em now ,I certainly have no
reason to go to Foxwoods.
I'm still a bit upset at MS for reducing the number of the 1$
Pick 'Em machines in half. But at least they did not remove them
completely. I'm just wondering if bringing it to the attention of
people who make these decisions at a casino can have an adverse
effect. Just a thought...any opinions?

I thought about that before I wrote my letter but as I reported in
re my phone conversation with Jim Keane they are very aware of the
machines and paytables. Remember he encouraged more letters.
Some posters have made very good points about VP players bringing
in other players and also if you do write, do not write a copycat
letter. Also remember he was proud in saying that the VP at MS was
better than Foxwoods( which he described as a "dump").This should
also be emphasized in any letter being written.
