Hi all
Here's my thoughts. I can remember when Mirage paid around .6% on
their vp $1 and above. 8/5 Bonus was best $1, some on progressive.
There was also 9/5 $2 (3)and more $5. Also big mix of other ok games.
Mirage was always packed in vp $1 and up section. The quarter games
played even with no cb. Now the cb is .33% quarter and dollar. Been
like that for a while. The $1 vp section is ghost city. I think a lot
of small profits are better than a very small amount of big profits.
They have tried to capture back customers with double match play. I
don't think it's working.
One more. Taj in AC. Same situation. .55% cb on 6 - 9/6 Jacks. Many
other vp had less cb, but still ok at .45%. I could walk into Taj any
weekend and see 30 or 40 players I knew. 6 players had the 9/6s with
good cb. The other 34 players were playing other games. I only go AC
once a month or so. I would bet there were 100 or more players
waiting for those 6 machines. They still have the 9/6s but they cut
the cb to about .15%. Guess what? They don't have any customers.
Good marketing plan? I guess the suits at Taj know what they are
doing?
The thing about a game like Double Bonus, or others a little over
100%, is with little cb pros don't really want to play. The
recreational player on average, I would guess, still gives house a 3%
or 4% win. A 9/6 JOB with .5% cb nets the house 3-4 percent also.
Again the pro doesn't play. The rec player doesn't always play
perfect. The rec player also travels with others who play slots,
tables etc.
The problem casinos have is greed. They try to extract so many $s
from customer they forget customers like to get a little play time
for their hard earned $s. The thing they forget is the $1, $2, and $5
player does look for a fair play. Most of these players have read a
magazine or watched something on tv. They have an idea of what is a
good pay back. However, rec players are there for a couple weekends a
year. They don't care to take the time to practice playing. They play
for a good time and hope to hit the royal. Of all the vp players who
can jump on to the net vpFREE is living proof there is not much
interest in playing perfect. So for all the vp game players in this
country a couple thousand players here on the net have put the whole
casino industry in a panic. Sometime I think the casino suits believe
vp should return same % as slots. But it ain't gonna happen. Too many
know to look for good pay backs. Casinos can't unring the bell.
Just my thought. But who cares. If I like the play I play. I'm sure
you all agree. If we want to vote we vote with our feet. The house
doesn't listen to the players. They look into the cash box. That's
what talks.
Have a happy new year all........Whitejeeps
