Casinos in Minnesota

I've checked the database and there don't seem to be any listings for
casinos in Minnesota. I'll be visiting a friend and was wondering
whether there are any of note.

There are several casinos in Minnesota. The closest casinos to the Twin Cities are Mystic
Lake in Prior Lake Minnesota and Treasure Island near Red Wing. Both are about 45-50
minutes away. The only table game is blackjack. No chance of finding any decent video
poker. The state's agreement with the tribes mandates that video poker machines in the
state pay between 83% and 98%. Horrible.

Over the weekend, I took my first trip to St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, about
an hour and a half away from the Twin Cities. I reported on my experience on my podcast
(downloadable Internet radio show), Five Hundy by Midnight, The Original Las Vegas
Podcast. You can listen to the show here:

My parents live in MN and I have gone to several casinos there. The
VP definitely is terrible but the BJ can be great. ALSO, even though
the ACG says (and it may be the law) that BJ is the only table game
allowed in MN, it's not true. Most of the casinos have live poker
rooms, 3 card poker, 3-5-7 poker, pai gow poker, and let it ride. We
most often go to Jackpot Junction in SW Minnesota. There is a
website (jackpotjunction.com)that describes their games. They also
have Bingo. Roulette and craps are definitely not allowed. All in
all, the casinos I've been to in MN are small, friendly, and clean,
not to mention cheap food and rooms (except for Mystic Lake, which
also doesn't allow alcohol). If you're interested in BJ, Jakcpot has
a DD game for $5 all the time. Their table minimums are generally
$3, even on weekends with more tables going to <gasp> $5 when it's
busy. If I were you, I'd check it out but don't expect any good VP.

Jackie, who is going to Jackpot with her grandma, mom, and sisters
in 3 weeks!!!!!!
