casinos giveth and takeaway....

Today, Labor Day, I passed through the Palms and found the stalwart Full Pay
Deuces Wild Progressive (25 cents) - gone. What a sad note - it's been
there for 6 years. And though perhaps it was a slight looser for the Palms, it
gave the place the cache of having good video poker, and something for the
locals. I saw many tourists and poor players there over the years, as well as
people who knew (or thought they knew) the correct strategy. That's why I
don't think the Palms lost too much money on the machine.

But as casinos take, so they give.

Right across the street in the Gold Coast, I spotted a new bank of machines
near the poker area that said "100% Video Poker". I looked and found 10/7 DB
was back! (quarters). I didn't survey the entire casino, so I don't know
if there was another bank of those machines. The GC also has plenty of NSU
deuces, 9/6 JB, and double point days - making it my favorite place to play.
(Though I also enjoy their multidenomination 5 play 9/6 DDB.)

The FPDW at the Palms might be in a state of flux right now. I was
in the Palms today around 3:00 PM and they were now located right in
front of "The Mint" bar. They did not have up the overhead
progressive meter.

They might go back to their normal location once the awards show is
over with.

That's too bad. What did they put into it's place?

There are two banks of "Optimum Plays: with quarter fpdw, 10/7 DB and 10/6 DDB. They have been there since about mid-August. I think the fpdw Progressive at Palms may have just been moved.
