Casino Windsor - Double Bonus Poker

While "enjoying" a moderately bad pick'em session at the Windsor Casino
last week, I happened upon a version of double bonus poker I had never
seen before.

The game is based on the 9/6/5/80 version of double bonus, with the 400
straight flush payout, but with a 1000 payout for four aces. The
return works out to around 99.05%; not great, but better than a lot of
what's out there.

It was one of the other games available on the dollar pick'ems outside
the high limit area.

Neil

I was there last week also. What denominations were
these machines in ? They maight be a good play for my
wife if they were in quarters.

The only place I saw it was on the dollar slant top machines just
outside the high limit area. But, I didn't really go looking anywhere
else, either.

Sam's Town is getting a little hungrier for business.
They have changed their mail policy, and now are
sending mailers to Canada .

Interesting. I used to enjoy Sam's Town and went quite frequently a few years ago and
used to receive a lot of good offers. They abruptly stopped about four or five years ago (I
guess about the time when they remodelled and put in the theaters). I went last year for
an afternoon and did dismally in my play. I remember finding it somewhat lacking of its
old energy since the new additions. I have yet to hear from them. However surprisingly in
the same vein I have recently been receiving *new* mail from casinos that I may have only
spent a couple of hours each in just for a look-see some time ago with tournament
invites, free room offers..etc like Planet Hollywood,Venetian,Wynn..etc. So if anyone is
heading to Vegas they might like to get a players club card at these casinos out as they too
seem to be hungry for business. I can't remember giving any of them more than a couple
of hundred bucks quarter play in either of them and actually doing very well at Wynn's.

Cheers,

MO

I have always found that strip casinos sent more mail
to Canada than any of the local or Downtown places.

True. The one local off-strip casino chain that is consistent with its mail to Canada seems
to be Coast Casinos as I get regular mail from them. The Palms sends mail too but are
spottier.

I never get anything from Station Casinos or Ramparts.

This might be helpful - this month's mailbox of current offers
  from US-based casinos.

  Las Vegas:
Stratosphere - 3 pieces (no play for 3 years).
Free 3-night stays, free slot tourneys.

Circus Circus - 1 piece (mimimal play at SAF in January).
                       - $45 rooms, $25 freeplay.

  Orleans - 1 piece - (3 x 2-hour visits in last year).
                     - $29 rooms, 2-4-1 buffet.

Sams Town - 3 pieces - (2 stays in last year).
Free 3-night stays, 4 free buffets.

Main Street - 3 pieces - (3 stays in last year).
         Free 4-night stays, $50 freeplay.

  4 Queens - 1 piece - (3 x 2-hour visits).
2-4-1 room offer, $35 rate, free breakfasts.

  Laughlin

  Aquarius - 4 pieces - (2 stays this year)
3 and 4-night free stays, free slot tourneys, $50 freeplay, $50 food.

River Palms - 2 pieces - (2 stays this year)
    Monthly mailers - each has 2 x 2-night stays, 2 x $25 freeplay.

Colorado Belle - 1 piece - (2 stays in last year)
Nascar Night parties - 3 free nights, party tickets, arrival gift..

  Reno
Atlantis - no action for 3-4 years.
Selective 1-night free stays, $45 rates otherwise.

  Niagara Falls

Seneca Niagars - 4 pieces - 5 visits in last year (2 stays)
Unlimited free nights, free show tix, $200 slot dollars, $120 food comps.

I sometimes have problems with the timeliness of their mailings. Some arrive
promptly, others arrive weeks or even months after the letterhead dates.

Especially tardy are mailings from Main Street Station, CB, and River Palms.
On more than one occasion I've actually been onsite at the locations, returned home,
and THEN received offers for the period when I was there.

I've now learned - call ahead, and ask what offers are available.

Attention shoppers: I was just on the Air Canada website and they have fares from Toronto to Las vegas from $89 each way, and that is for daytime direct non-stop flights. Act quickly as these will not last. These prices go all the way out to the end of November.
