I have not seen the sign and therefore I have not called to ask your
question.

Elliott, you should know of course, that I do it for a living, so I make
calls all day, but sometimes good answers are available right here. Why
not ask and help to make others aware as well? Share the information
with others. That's what this list is all about.

All that I was trying to convey is that the casinos WILL answer these
questions and it takes less effort to make the call rather than to
post a message.
I get regular progressive meter information by calling, etc.
Even the Mirage responds to the requests for information.

what's your motivation? do you want to play or do you want to insure
all good machines are occupied with the result that the casino will
soon kill or severely downgrade the promotion?
you should call first, if it's over 1%, keep it to yourself, let
other people enjoy the thrill of discovering it on their own, instead
of discovering no machines are free or it's been discontinued

Elliott,
Of course the casinos will answer questions. I was sharing information
about the HR and a sign I saw at Key Largo. We're not talking about some
"secret" play here. You should share the information you acquire from
your calls with the list too, rather than constantly complaining and
being condescending. GOOD information and questions are always welcomed
and appreciated here. Lighten up, my friend! Life is short, but oh so
sweet! Enjoy!
Regards,
Scot

This is the wish of the few active players who will/are
take/taking advantage of an unknown situation, but
there's no reason for others to feel that way.
vpFREE is primarily interested in promoting and
preserving good video poker situations that can
survive and prosper in an open market environment.
Publicizing ALL good situations may (or may not)
kill some some plays, to the detriment of a few, but
I believe that it's in the best interest of most players.

This has been dragged through the mud before, but I'm impelled to add
comment.
It should be apparent that few casinos wittingly put $20+/hr plays on
their floor. Whether added intentionally or not, such plays are going
to draw a disproportionate amount of skilled play -- and publicizing
them isn't going to change that. Less skilled play will increase, but
skilled players will sweep in and play aggressively. Ultimately,
negative profit or simply increased visibility will kill them.
The goal of this group isn't going to be served by getting the word
out on these plays. It's reasonable sense not to encourage this.
On the other hand, strong $.25 plays (and to a lesser extent $.50),
which are < $15 opportunities are excellent opportunities for the
recreational player but not strong attractions for those seriously
looking to make a steady buck. Publicizing these plays won't draw
intense "pro" play, but will increase less skilled recreational play
-- ensuring that casino hold is strengthened. Discussion of these
plays is fully consistent with the goals of this group.
I respectfully disagree with the position of the vpFREE admin.

Harry:
The vpFREE administrator is performing a thankless task, and has
made it clear from the getco what the rules are for this group. If
you *feel strongly* against these rules (i.e. these rules create
such unhappiness for you), perhaps you need to start your own vp
message group so you can run THAT message group as you deem fit.
I also think you need to revisit the concept of public domain
information. If seeing advantage play over $20+/hr being posted in
any public domain bothers you, perhaps you need to understand the
simple fact that this is now the norm, especially with low
transaction / dissemination cost via the internet. Voicing your
unhappiness here is not going to change that.
Third, you can't control how casinos run their businesses. Instead,
you should learn to be grateful vp manufacturers create games at or
close to 100% return, and that casinos provide extra benefits via
cash back, comps et al such that people like you can play at an
attractive opportunity.
If you miss my message, then allow me to summarize: The needs of
many who benefit from vpFree's posted rules (i.e. sunshine policy)
outweight the needs of a few that could benefit from a change in
these rules. Harry, you are clearly unhappy about this, and the
best part is you can makes changes to control your unhappiness.
Cheers.

Gee ... hadn't thought I'd suggested this was a source of dire
despondency or that my marriage was in jeopardy of breaking up.
Just expressing an opinion guy, in what I'd hoped were considerate terms.

I thought Harry disagreed in a very friendly gentlemanly way. Of course we don't all agree on this issue of "outing" good plays on this and other lists. I appreciate Tom's view on this matter although I personally am selective in the plays I publicize. I agree with Harry - good lower-level plays are the best to reveal because they help the greatest number of people.
If you have followed my writing down through the years, you will notice I have always spent more ink on general concepts than on specific plays. The masses need general information - if I could just get more people to realize that playing with a card is good - I would be a happy author.

I'm curious about how others in this group feel?
Are there people here who want to see strong plays killed quickly
(which is the result of public broadcasting)?
Why?
One of the thrills of gambling is finding a strong play and seeing
how long you can extend your play before everyone is on it and the
casino pulls it. Sometimes this means playing in the early hours and
many other stealth techniques, when the players involved are very
skilled you'd be surprised how long an oportunity can last. Once the
news gets out time is limited. One of the disappointments of gambling
is finding a team has locked it up in a last ditch attempt to get the
remaining play out before the casino soon kills it.
There are >1% plays out there, but only because they have not
been "outed" yet on public forums.
I'm not proposing moderation. It's up to the active players. If you
want to play, it's simply not in your interest to broadcast it to the
general public. In addition, if for some reason you can't play, why
ruin it for others?

Nice backpedaling; I'm "just expressing my opinion", also and
hopefully "in considerate terms."
Cheers.
We usually play KBJW, FPDW, 10/7 DB and Pickem when were in Vegas. What percentage comp and/or cashback would be needed to make these games >$20/hour opportunities? What about > $15/hour? Can it be accomplished with single line quarters or do you need to be playing multiplay 3/5/10 machines? Same question for dollars? Is there an equation for calculating this?
Thanks from NH.

I saw nothing wrong with your post, Harry. No where did I read where you 'felt strongly' or were even particularly 'unhappy' with the status quo, although I suppose even the slightly disagreement could be construed as at least _'mild'_ unhappiness.
On a pleasant note, my family and I will be initiating our son at Tunica when he turns 21 this week. Have been brushing up; got up to 877 consecutive hands without a single error and then blew it by only holding a high pair without noticing the second low pair. I _hate_ that; carelessness is what costs me everytime.
Cheers.

An example: $.25 FPDW w/ .25% cb is roughly a 1% positive
opportunity. Played on a very fast machine by a skilled player, 1000
hph = $1250/hr coin-in, $12.50/hour opportunity.

If Rastis could just convince people NOT to play with a card, Rastis would
be a happy player and optimum machines would be around in 2007. Cards are
killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. The masses need to lose money
playing video poker. IF they don't , we will all lose money playing
machines with negative expectations. Let the masses attend Dancer's
meetings but DON'T give them a card. All the masses need is a sign above
the game, "Over 100% return".
