Casino Strategy.

There has been much written re: the reasons for machine changes, etc,
etc.

One thing that no one has mentioned. That is that they DON'T care!!!

I was a Diamond player at Harrahs and Rio. Because of machine
elimination, I don't play there anymore. Has anyone from either
property called or written to ask why I no longer play there. NO!!

Millionaire status at Orleans, no longer play there. Has anyone asked
why? NO!!!

There are other casinos that we no longer frequent because of machine
"tightening up". MGM, Venetian, to name a couple. No one from any
casino has asked for my reasons for stopping and none have aked for
opinions on how to make it better.

I repeat. They just don't care.

I repeat. They just don't care.

Excellent point, and yet another piece of evidence
to support the theory that most people in casino
managment are morons.

Harrah's prides itself on market research, but
I have heard almost nothing from them since my
strong play in KC and St. Louis evaporated.
They never received a change of address, so
they should have been at least a bit curious
why.

Harrah's did send me some sort of very lame
offer for St. Louis with some sort of letter
that said they had noticed that I had not been
playing lately. The offer was a joke compared
to my previous offers and status. That letter
did not inquire about the reason for my absence.

No other casino even did this much.

Elliott, I'd like to take a stab at that based on occasional input from you and a few others. Maybe they DO care. Doesn't it make sense that maybe they just don't really want those who take their money year after year coming in any longer? A winner's a winner, and 5 credits less here & there probably isn't enough compel a Casino Marketing Manager to absolutely conclude that you won't keep on walking out with a profit.

I think the Diamond card at Harrah's is somewhat deceptive. It seem locals have complaints, but someone like me ends up scratching my head when they keep sending me a one-year renewal I truly don't deserve by any stretch. I may have used the card at the RIO a total of 1 hour on dollars in the past year with no other card play at Harrahs, and last week they sent me a renewal. Not only that, but the free nights, food comp coupons, & free show tickets never stop coming. We also stopped in at that new? Diamond lounge this weekend, didn't stay there, didn't play there, and left with the fastest valet pick-up service I've ever seen there all because I showed them a Diamond card when I drove in. I think these guys DO care....to get me back playing again.

My wife and I have gotten 17 royals, so far this year. This is approx
the 110th day of the year and I would guess that we have lost on most
of the 93 days when we did not get a royal. Depending upon where we
were playing, many casinos look on us as losers, not winners, so they
should want us back. This is from someone who NEVER plays a machine
that does not have a sizable advantage, never takes a shot at anything
else. Still we are losers to many casinos.
Maybe they care, but they certainly have never shown it to me.
Stations have full pay machines, but their promotion of $50 in bounce
back led to the fact that almost every good machine was eliminated
from the promotion. They want losers, and I am a proven one to many
casinos and yet, no call or letter as to why I stopped playing.
