Casino rating

I asked a host at Golden Nugget about my level of play and what sor tof room rate I would get. I ran about $18,000 through in 2 days playing mostly 3 and 5 play $ JOB. I might have played for 2.5 hours total.

I thought that level of play would certainly put me in the comped room level. Here is GN's reply:

Hi John,

Your coin-in reflects the cash back you receive not the play, the play is calculated based on time and denomination. Your play is at the Casino rate status however when you’re here and playing always check with a host or the 24Kt Club before you check-out to evaluate your play and change your status for that trip.

Kind of a funny system but if I play slower, my comp rate would probably be higher. The 5 play machines there are quick and 800 - 1000 hph is certainly possible. So, that's $20K - $25k per hour. If I play those those again, I'll play slower and take a 10 minute break every hour.

I promise you, it's strictly coin in for slots. Theo is theo no matter
whether it takes an hour or a few minutes.

If you're getting slot tourney offers, these include a room for three
night and some bonus cash (expressed in cashback points). I do about
$20K a day on average, but it's drop-in as a local, and they pretty
much give me anything I ask for, but I don't ask for a whole heck of a
lot.

Hi Chandler,

The way the weather has been in OUR part of the country, you might
as well be in LV!

I have a question regarding your GN offer. Was the offer snail-
mailed or emailed to you? Did it come from the Marketing Dept. or
your host?

I stayed at the GN last spring for 4 nights. My room was comped up
front by my host. All the meals I had charged, were comped prior to
check-out, w/o my even asking. I also took out considerable CB,
prior to leaving for home.

By my detailed notes I know that I ran over $40K coin-in through
on .05 5 play 10/7DB, .25 9/7Seq/RF/DB and a very juicy 8/5JOB prog.
that was at $3K+. However, I received NO offers at all from the GN.
I can't help but wonder why?

I have had this happen in Tunica, I played 3play $1 JOB for about 2
hours and did a little over $20K in CI. I was offered a room, but no
comps and I was told that I 'only played about 2 hours' and it did not
seem to matter what game denom or CI, because I didnt meet the time at
the machine requirement. It doesnt make sense to me either, but I
guess the 4 hours per day rule still applies at some places (maybe a lot).

This happened to me recently at Harrah's (Vegas). I have never
stayed there before but am attending a seminar there in a couple of
weeks. As it would just be easier to stay where the seminar is (and
the company is paying for the room), I called to inquire of a host
about getting a suite (as I heard the rooms are mediocre at best).
I was very suprised to be told I didn't even "qualify" to speak to a
host. When I asked what that meant, I was told that on my most
recent Harrah's jaunt (which was in Laughlin), their records showed
I had "only" played for 20 hours in 3 days!! CI was $80k. Then the
guy I said I wasn't even borderline at my level of play to get a
suite and they don't "sell" them; they are all comped. Needless to
say, I am staying elsewhere.

Yes, Babe, but it's a wet heat;-) The offer was mailed USPS. It was a
casino marketing offer. I have never dealt with any specific host at GN,
though my interactions with various hosts have been positive there. I
haven't had much play at GN lately, but the truth is that marketing offers
are often unpredictable. I imagine this is especially true of a property
that has undergone the management tumult that GN continues to endure. There
are a few variables that may have left you out, but I won't pretend to
understand the GN marketing system. I would hope that with the play you
gave them, a host would make a room available to you regardless of marketing
offers.
