7d. Re: Casino loses money on vp
Date: Tue Oct 23, 2007 10:24 am ((PDT))I use this kind of thinking when we are stuck in traffic and get to a casino
later than we had planned and then hit a royal. "See, we wouldn't have hit
this royal if we hadn't been stuck in traffic."Then the more sensible side of me answers myself, "Well, if I hadn't got
stuck in traffic, I might have gotten 2 royals."
Correct, of course - not only can any event change any other event, it can change it favorably or unfavorably --- or not at all.
My favorite "rationale" is when I'm up for a trip and decide to sleep in the last morning and go home without playing anymore (read: without risking my win) -- and then the hotel fire alarm goes off or some other hotel disturbance occurs early in the morning, and I can't get back to sleep, and there's nothing else to do, so.... and when I play "because they forced me to", I hit a big win.
I figure they got what they deserved. Of course, it could go the other way, but on the few occasions this has actually happened, I've always run well.
