Casino Hold Question

I overheard a comment that casinos like a hold of 10-12%. I was wondering how the denomination affects this. A 10-12% hold on a nickle machines would be a small amount of return for the casino compared to a 10-12% hold on a $5 machine given the same amount of play. Does anyone have anything more specific on this?

It has been a long time since I got any of the Casino magazines, but I
remember that the 'hold' varied by denom.

1-5 cent was about 20% hold
25 cent was about 10%
$1 was about 5%
$5 and up was 3-5%
all of these are dependent on the Compitetion factor
and they always lumped VP in with Slots, thank god we can
look at the paytable and evaluate VP

That overall hold% sounds way too high for what I've seen. Here's one
stapshot I saw recently:

5c machines: 7-8% hold
25c machines: 5-6% hold
$ machines: 4-5% hold
Tables: 15-20% hold

Machines in this case include both slots and VP (aggregate total).
The table figures might be high since this was for a juristiction
other than Vegas. But I know the machine holds are in the same range
as Vegas.

I don't get Casino Player anymore, but I know they used to publish the
monthly gaming statistics for many states (including Nevada). Perhaps
someone could give a snapshot of those numbers if CP still lists them.
